Everton Youth Teams Thread

No we’re up against one of the best academies in the country and we’ve given them a game here.

They’ve got miles more talented individuals than we do. That Kone looks a real talent (6).

We haven’t really got any standouts but there’s a couple who have a chance of being first team players here. That’s as good as we can expect I’d say.
So what would it take for us also get a good Academy?
Money?
Coaches?
Planning?

Thought we played pretty well overall. The formation fit the players quite well. We just lacked a bit of quality. The game really turned on Davis's mistake which is unfortunate.

Big chance near the end that Dixon squandered was also annoying.

Shame that Benjamin and Tamen were missing.

Finishing 12th was the target though so a solid season overall for the 21s. Blooding Graham this early can only be a good thing too. Given our contract situation, think there's a good chance that some of these boys end up with the first team for pre-season. Will be very interesting to watch.

We already have a good academy.
Agree with Francis, we already have a good academy. Excellent facilities, decent prospects. Realistically United, Liverpool, City, Chelsea hoover up the top top talents a lot of the time.

We happen to be fishing in the same pond geographically as three of those (and Chelsea still nicked arguably our most talented player for a song last summer).

We haven’t got standout talents but there’s a few with a good chance, some will likely play lower leagues as well.

Personally out of tonight’s lot it’s Graham, Sherif, Thomas. There’s also a few who could have solid careers like Dixon, Patterson, Heath.

Dixon's playing with a bit more gusto in this game - maybe Moyes's Ancelotti-style "who's Roman Dixon?" might have lit a fire.

Added: but as above he's still nowhere near first team level.
We've had to used him this season in difficult circumstances, probably not ready to step up, but he didn't let us down.

Until the Baines/Coleman masterstroke to play JOB at right back, there really was an elephant in the room and no clear candidate to nail down that spot for the up coming 25/26 season.

What we have at the moment is a sticking plaster that needs addressing.

All current options need to be assessed.
