    Groucho's Fact Hunt

Ah mate, I ended up watching about all but the last 10 or so minutes, so engrossing was it. What a guy, I can't help but like him, despite the lack of morals. Bollocks bigger than an elephant. Gonna watch the end tonight. Also learned some stuff about Brazilian football in general that is now...

He's not even reached the point yet where he has to adapt his game and become more of a sitting player. Most players of his ilk have at least an extra season in them by adapting their game and becoming a sitting player with vast experience and good reading of the game.

    Groucho's Fact Hunt

Cheers mate. Had a feeling it would be knocking around somewhere, but hadn't dug that deep. Gonna watch 1/2 tonight and the rest tomorrow ;)

Not watched it yet, want to watch it, don't want to pay for it

    Groucho's Fact Hunt

Carlos Kaiser is a brazilian former 'footballer' who had a 13 year career without making a single appearance. He was a conman. The closest he ever came to making an appearance was when he nearly got subbed on. To avoid being subbed on, he jumped in to the crowd and attacked some fans who were...

Matt Le Tissier's highest ever wage was 3.5k p/w  He retired in 2002. To put that in perspective, John Barnes was earning 10k p/w in the early 90's and before that decade was out, Roy Keane was getting 50k p/w Learned that watching this:

What series would you or have you watched more than once.

Never watched a drama series more than once other than The Soprano's and that's only because my wife wanted to watch it. Pretty much every decent sitcom (mainly English) has been watched several times. My favourites being The Simpsons and Steptoe & Son. Interesting fact about Steptoe; it was...

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Imagine spending all day whinging about 4th choice centre back Michael Keane signing a one year extension when the most promising left-footed English centre back in about the last 20 years has just signed a 5 year deal. No doubt the same people will be deep into the Moyes thread after about 2...

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No, I weren't suggesting they were gonna borrow against it like that. I just imagine clubs don't have the most cash flow at this time of year and that it might have an impact on how much can be spent early in the window for some. As I said though, it might not be an issue that affects anybodies...

Isn't there something else about cash flow also? I vaguely remember us waiting on a date for tv money under the last donkey who owned us. Cash flow was talked about a lot. It might be irrelevant tbh, not sure.

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

BBC Football are doing a 'live' transfer thread every day it seems. I had a little perusal of it late yesterday, it features a lot of comments by fans. Man Utd, Forest and Newcastle are particuarly twitchy and complaining about not getting players in early, and United have actually bought a £60...

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Why exactly? If he'd have been good they'd have kept him. It was a standard contract that triggered a permanent transfer if they were promoted. Covid meant there was a date for that to be activated but the season overran that date. Like I say, if he'd have been decent, Leeds would have kept him...

I'm not sure the contract was the issue. They signed a dud, a player who has been reported as being a bit work shy when there, and they decided there was some loophole that could avoid them having to honour the contract. The contract was just a contract. They 'bought' a dud and decided to try...

    2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Well, it's official, one of the forum's stalwarts has been exposed as a bot or a wum. A very sad day.

Yeah, it pretty much is gospel. I'm prepared to back up anything I've said.* *apologies if there's some sarcasm or irony that has gone over my head.

No need to apologise mate, it's just a forum and I don't expect anybody to make sure they've read everything I've said before commenting on something. For the record, thks is what I said:

But then that just becomes it's own little deadline doesn't it? It's not ideal to be in a position where another club can just take one of your players at very short notice, with no negotiation needed.

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Maybe so. The point remains though. Barca decided to take Gerry back just to move him on. An injury crisis, the hint of interest from other clubs, or even filling the homegrown quota could easily see a last 'second' decision made to come in and take the player back.
