    2024/25 Sean Dyche

We had a really good run from April last season which perhaps skewed. We sat in 16th then.
  2. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Exactly. Hence the point distressed seller. Not Dyches fault is it?
  3. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

They've all spent a lot of money mate. The likes of Bournemouth were lashing £100m+ in one window. Hence the question really. If a new manager replaces Dyche tomorrow. In 21 months time, if every window we have to make a profit and Moshiri is still an absent owner - would you expect us to be...
  4. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

We're the only Prem team to have made a profit for 3 years on the spin. Not sure that's being a well run club though mate. Also, distressed sellers can't get optimum value.
  5. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

    Very much agree with this.
  6. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

The bold is where we fundamentally disagree. I think results for years - 2 managers before Dyche have demonstrated we do have a team that's around the bottom. You speak to neutrals, or even look at bookies odds before a ball is kicked and we're 4th favourite to go down. If a new manager...

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

If you think Dyche and Benitez had the same challenges mate then I'll leave you with that. I've explained how the cards they had were miles away.
  8. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Absolutely. Patience is what it is, football fans aren't known for it. To be fair to Dyche, at the end of both seasons he's been very clear the team needed to invest and spend otherwise will be in the same boat. He got a lot of credit for his comments after Bournemouth. Nothing to celebrate...
  9. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Why did we expect anything other than a reset though? We didn't invest enough in the team did we? Why anything other than what we've had for 3/4 years before it? Because of Sean Dyche? Maybe it's just we're crap, as the results have shown us for years now. Maybe we'll only improve beyond a...

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Well there's plenty of other examples there mate. One tookover in the summer a team with better players, who'd just finished a season with 59 points. The other come in January 30th with a team sat 19th like.
  11. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Then you'd be wrong mate I'm afraid. I mean, one come in the summer. Joining a team that wasn't near relegation. One come in 30th Jan was it with us favourites to go down. Keeping us up give him a lot of credit in the bank. Then shall we start on the sales, or the point deductions...

    Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

If TFG come in, we'll definitely see a couple of new signings - desperately needed too. After missing out on Gnonto, Minteh, Philogene - wingers with a bit of pace is my guess.
  13. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

There's no comparison in Dyche and Benitez, really. When I've defended Dyche it's because of the cards he's been dealt, and the circumstances Everton have been in.
  14. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

We have them spells. I remember a few weeks before Dyche; "Everton haven't won a match in 81 days of football in any competition. Every other club in the top 6 tiers of English football has won a match since then" ^ After that tweet, it went on even longer - we got beat to Southampton (H)...
  15. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

To be fair - I wanted Silva out earlier than he went for Emery. A late season upturn in form saved him IMO. I also wanted Koeman gone earlier than most. I wanted Lampard gone earlier, again for Emery when Villa got him. I'd argue they were more proactive decisions though  So I get it...
  16. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

You said we've spent big sums on managers. So I'm suggesting sacking another, in the months prior new ownership wouldn't help on that front. Especially when a manager's contract is up in the summer anyway, and new owners seem imminent. If we sacked Dyche in the summer, or last month -...
  17. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Probably best to make sure new owners can pick their manager, on their terms then eh. Also best any owner doesn't react to the whims of fans too.
  18. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Not relevant to Dyche, or anywhere really but just found this by accident from a search and thought it pretty much summed up how bad we've been for a very long time.
  19. GrandOldTeam

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

Well, the spend includes his time too. But ultimately a team that's crap, and then makes money - except Man City - the only team to do since Dyche arrived - are likely going to remain crap.

I'm sure we're planning with TFG being in place. I think they did that last summer too, and had the rug pulled on that one.
