the bottom line is though, would Moyes have played Barkley and Stones the season Martinez took over? I am not sure as he doesn't play youth

Yet he did well at Wednesday prior to that and several months later he was starting games for Everton, playing 34 games that season and scoring 6 goals leading to an England call up. Maybe says more about Warnock and Moyes.

Barkley scored 4 goals in 13 games for Wednesday before we recalled him. He was only 18 at the time. I'm not sure why this has been remembered as a "terrible" loan.
