    Summer 2024 transfer thread.

Rooney won't have any complaints about his career, I'm sure. His time at the top made him United's and England's (briefly) record scorer and he won stacks of trophies. Whilst I rate Branthwaite, he'll need a hell of a career to get close to Rooney's. But that's not really the question. Rooney...

No sale will ever compare to Rooney leaving for me. Maybe it's because I'm older but Rooney was one of us. A boy genius who felt destined to become a great. He brought genuine excitement. Branthwaite is a very good player. He could become a great player but he's no Wayne Rooney.

It's about supporting those who need it. Doing the right thing. It doesn't have to be about wealth.

I'm all for helping him recover. That doesn't mean we have to re-sign him. It means finishing the medical program we've started him on. Everton in the community. The People's club. Being good people is the only thing we're good at. Telling him to sort himself out doesn't fit with our values.

5 years ago, definitely, but we don't have the financial power to do this now even if we wanted to. We need money and we can't afford his wages.

In terms of timings I thought that we'd borrowed enough to make August which should then see the TV money come in. If we're ok for PSR this cycle we could wait to sell in order to maximise price. We'll still need to sell though.

I'm not so sure. We need guaranteed cash. Besides, if it's United, having add-on's like winning the EPL/CL is like offering me a bonus for learning to breathe underwater.

    777 Partners - Revised Poll Added 07/05/2024

Longer term is probably worse but it might alleviate the immediate problems. Either way we're in a real mess.

    777 Partners - Revised Poll Added 07/05/2024

Refinancing might be a necessary evil to reduce short term outgoings. If it's additional borrowing to keep the lights on then it's just a matter of time before this whole sorry mess comes crashing down.

We'll get our annual bumming at the Emirates within the week and then I'm looking forward to some well deserved time off from Everton. Looking at league tables, fixtures and hoping everybody crap loses except us is draining.

I honestly don't care where he goes to. If he's leaving I just want the best deal for us.

    The Great Everton Fire Sale

PSR is only part of the equation. We're borrowing stacks of money just to pay the bills.

    The Great Everton Fire Sale

For me Onana and Branthwaite look guaranteed to leave. These should generate at least enough money to keep the lights on I'd hope. Maupay will leave. Hopefully we get 8-10m. Holgate will be loaned out as no one will buy him. DCL needs to be sold if he won't sign a contract extension. I doubt...

    The Great Everton Fire Sale

There are a lot of ifs to this scenario and getting in new owners for next season is probably the biggest. Even if we found one tomorrow there are a lot of things that need to happen to complete a takeover and it takes time for them all to happen. Look at the 777 debacle. It wasn't a question of...

Depends on the negotiator. If they are saying we want X but need Y to avoid catastrophe so offering Z doesn't help us we can still play hardball.

He barely got more than a few minutes despite having Beto and DCL failing to score during a massive winless streak.

Another game, another winner but my word he's an awful footballer. The way he moves I wonder how he doesn't fall down. It's like he's immune to gravity.

A good cameo and looks like he might have a future here. I was dubious but the last few weeks have been really positive.

I think all replacements are likely to cheap. There isn't much alternative unless we find a new benefactor quickly.
