The next manager appointment (new thread)

Yeah what the club truly needs right now, with a wave of optimism following the arrival of a new owner and the move imminent to the new ground is to go back and appoint the manager whose symbiotically linked to the Kenwright era. Who plays turgid football, and who was the first ever Everton...

    2024/25 Sean Dyche

You're correct it's actually 5 wins from the last 26 league games. 5 wins, 8 draws, 13 losses over the last 26 games in fact. 23 points out of 26 games. Sackable form by any metric.

First one he turns up late and smug for after the takeover I seriously hope Friedkin fines him for it. To send a clear message about professionalism and courtesy. See how the bell end reacts to that.

Funny thing is, without the point deductions everyone goes in about we'd have finished twelfth, not realising that the timing of both points deductions sparked the biggest uptake in form. We get no deductions last year I reckon we'd have dropped some games we won, and finished on roughly the 40...

There big spend in their first year I think was 100m net - but it did win them the club's first ever European trophy, and they became the first Italian team to win a European trophy in 12 years mate, I'd not say that masked anything, it was a brilliant reward for the investment.

    Mauricio Sarri

I think with O'Brien and Branthwaite we definitely do mate, Tarkowski not so much but the way he's looked this season so far I'm worrying he's starting to look like a 33 year old who plays every game every season...

    Mauricio Sarri

My thinking on why he's been a great appointment is this mate. We've had too many of the mentality of 40 points is a good season type. Club needs to change it's goals and way of thinking, need a system long term to be put into place on how we play and recruit for that. Sarri would most...

    Mauricio Sarri

Unique situation at Chelsea imo, from memory you had a transfer ban so he couldn't bring anyone in (right wing was a major issue) and it was during COVID too (I think). Noticeable that the club didn't want to get rid of him either

As a side note - think Adam Wharton would be a perfect fit for a Sarri team in that number 6 role.

    Mauricio Sarri

Did a down the rabbit hole on Sarri and his tactics yesterday mate. Trying to analyse who currently would suit and who wouldn't his preferred 4-3-3 system. In a nutshell, okays a high line so CBs need pace, likes fullbacks who can cover the pitch and overlap, absolutely loves a deep lying DM...
