  1. Carlito

    2023/24 Jarrad Branthwaite

He'll have only been called up because he's getting attention in the media. Southgate won't want him out there demonstrating that he's already better than Maguire.
  2. Carlito

    Everton Hype Train 11

Forgot about him; he's in. Good job Stephen Hughes and Tony Grant are used to getting dropped.
  3. Carlito

    Everton Hype Train 11

I enjoy the ones where, like Niasse, there are big claims that slowly whittle down towards the truth, e.g. 'top scorer/player of the year' turns out to be a single player of the month award. See also: Bilyaletdinov starring at Euro 2008 (he was on the bench).
  4. Carlito

    Everton Hype Train 11

If we're talking young players who briefly looked the part (here or elsewhere) before amounting to very little, I'd go: Wright Gosling Godfrey Holgate Garbutt Baxter Grant Hughes Oster Jeffers Sandro Subs: Simonsen, O'Kane, Baningime, Vlasic, Branch
  5. Carlito

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

As Dr Goebbels said: 'Dyche is immunised against all dangers. . .defeats roll off him like water off a raincoat.'
  6. Carlito

    2023/24 Jordan Pickford

    You'd have to admire it.
  7. Carlito

    2023/24 Jordan Pickford

I don't know why he hasn't looked to better himself at club level, but I'm glad of it. He was the difference between us and the three teams that were relegated last season. They were all let down by poor goalkeepers.
  8. Carlito

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

Get a bandage around Patterson's head and call it gross misconduct. No compensation due, though we'll decline to press charges as a gesture of goodwill... ...actually, scrap that last part. Let's press charges.
  9. Carlito

    2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

If most of the money from player sales ends up going towards running costs and debt servicing, we may have to just let him leave for nothing at the end of next season. Beto's agent has stung two clubs in a row with 'buy now, pay later' deals. I can't see us finding a third dupe, and there's no...
  10. Carlito

    2023/24 Jarrad Branthwaite

I doubt he'll see a minute at the Euros, but he's good enough to start.

  12. Carlito

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

So many opportunities to just accept our fate and move on, all squandered. 'An incredible moment of relegation.' 'But OK, that's relegation.' 'If I were a bloody foreigner, you'd be calling it el temporo setbacko.' 'Não falo inglês.' 'You'll be hearing from my lawyer.' 'Relegation for me is...

    2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Can't possibly go into next season relying on Beto and Chermitti, so DCL will just have to leave for nothing when his contract is up.
  14. Carlito

    2023/24 Nathan Patterson

Yeah, he's done alright at times. I think it was last season where he got destroyed by Mitoma at Goodison, but then bounced back and played him very well in the return fixture. Only a one-off example, but it shows he's serious about getting better.
  15. Carlito

Would you like Graham Potter in to replace Dyche?

He's probably about as good as we could hope for at this stage, so yes. Shame Dyche has another season's salary to be paid up (no idea why he was given such a long contract, considering the lack of interest in him), but at least Potter would come without compensation. Some will claim it's...
  16. Carlito

    2023/24 Ben Godfrey

At centre-back, where he was bought to play, Godfrey is worse than Holgate. He's right up there with the Moshiri-era transfers that everybody laughs about.
  17. Carlito

    2023/24 Nathan Patterson

I find it odd that he's stuck behind three of the worst right-back options in the league. He's had a few very poor games in his time here, but the same could be said for virtually every player in the squad. None of the rest of them seem to be held to the same high standard, though.
  18. Carlito

    2023/24 Amadou Onana

About time Barca had the decency to pull our kecks back up. They've been down around our ankles since they sold us Gomes and Mina.
  19. Carlito

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

It means he's got the safest job in football. If the football's poor, it's about results. If results are poor, it's because he has no money. If money is spent, it doesn't count.
  20. Carlito

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

He's a bog-standard yard dog, good enough to be pulled up by a quality partner like Mina or Branthwaite.
