    Worst Everton debut

Don't think it was live. All weekend games were 3 pm on Saturdays back then. Motd that night and The Big Match on Sunday. It was a big deal when the Cup Final came around as it was shown live but the build up began about 7 in the morning!

My worst ever day as an Evertonian. 0-3 down at half time. I was in the Street end. Sickening.

Did a search and didn't find thread for this year. Mods pl remove if already one extant. Today Div 3 Final Offaly 2-17 Kildare 1-18 Kildare had three times the population of Offaly but can't seem to get a consistent squad together Next up Kerry v Mayo in League 1 Final. Should be 😋 tasty.

“And If You Know Your History.”

The rs team in their first match a friendly v Rotherham 1 Sept 1892 was entirely Scots. Manager John McKenna was an Orange Man like his Chair Houlding. Everton 's regular first team was 6 English and 5 Scottish. We signed our first Irish player in 1898, John (Jack Kirwan), a former GAA player...

    Adrian Heath

I was at Lansdowne when Nev jumped for a ball and landed in a divot on a terrible surface. Did it make a difference? On the face of it of course, because he was the best in the world at that time but as someone posted earlier , Bobby did well when he came in. It was a sickener to be runners up...

I think that's Stevenson beside Peter and unsure abouyt the player on the right - possibly Hedley?? The first non-British team to beat England on home soil - at Goodison Park 21 September 1949. Peter Farrell second from right front row. Peter Corr, uncle of the Corrs also played...

    2024/25 Jake O'Brien

RTE gave him 7, two got 8 and two others got 7 the rest got 6, not counting subs. Didn't see the match as we were at Der Fliegende Höllander although we passed under the West Stand going to and from the Theatre. It would have been HT when we were going back. Back home and heading to bed. I...

Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Jazzy, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. My own dear Mum passed in 2021, four years after being diagnosed with vascular dementia. Dad passed in 2008 - 94 and 88 years old, and DG both passed peacefully without any distress. Mam avoided Covid which was also a great...

What Time do you go to bed (NOT With me Ma)

Monty Python: Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, (pause for laughter), eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill...

What Time do you go to bed (NOT With me Ma)

Now the mornings are getting bright earlier I will. Mrs BR and I usually bring the dog for a walk later in the day in a wood nearby. Really peaceful and rarely meet anyone or any other dogs. Have you a faithful mutt John Joe? We have always had more than one over the past 34 years, for some...

What Time do you go to bed (NOT With me Ma)

Retired over 3 years and in a routine of bed about 9.30, read until eyes start closing then awake 4.30- 5 when I get up. I feed the dog and read for a few hours before bringing Mrs BR her breakfast in bed, or just tea if she's working. Never felt better - my late Dad always quoted the maxim...
