    Summer transfer window 2023

Meh, does anyone? I’ve had a bad week in real life and you’re wrongly pulling me up about something I literally do for a living. It’s small fry but it’s annoying. Most times I’d ignore it, this week I’m stressed so I bit, it happens. You can chalk it down as a win on the board I have no doubt...

To be fair opening a thread about signings before we know what division we’re going to be in was always going to struggle to attract much in the way of exciting content. As someone who has a PhD In English and writes for a living it’s always fun to be questioned on your English usage by someone...

I know? It autocorrected to inverted comments when I meant to write inverted commas, that’s why I mentioned it - they are inverted commas so if that’s what you were trying to pick me up on you’re wrong, I thought you might have been pointing out the autocorrect. Anywayyyyyyy, I hope we...

They are inverted commas. They’re not inverted comments like my original post said if that’s what you meant.

Yes, that’s why I put ‘replace’ in inverted comments because I didn’t mean we have to buy someone to replace him directly but I think we’d need another centre half anyway because the others aren’t good enough.

Because we’re 17th in the league and concede goals for fun and he averages 14 games a year and coady is only on loan and Keane is awful and holgate is awful and Godfrey is awful and I don’t know how many more reasons you could possibly need but I’m sure there are others.

    Summer transfer window 2023

I think that's the entire point though really, we need to 'replace' him even if he stays because we can't rely on him to stay fit. If we stay up and can't spend any money then we'll go down next year, whether Mina stays or not. On that basis lumbering ourselves with him on another contract would...

    Summer transfer window 2023

Even then I just don't see the point. We've been awful for years and people seem to get obsessed with hanging on to players and bringing back ex players, I just find it bizarre. There's a whole world of players out there, I just see no reason at all to be holding onto someone like Mina. Even if...

74 Premier League starts in five years and people want to give Mina a new contract. We deserve everything we get.

    2022/23 Vitalii Mykolenko

It's not really an additional goal threat though is it? Because it moves probably our biggest goal threat away from where he's been effective. Not saying it's a terrible idea, but it's easy to see it as a negative move as much as a positive one really.

    2022/23 Sean Dyche

OK it's not worded the best but the point at the heart of it is fair I think. It's this idea of Keane single handedly costing us games and everything just automatically being better if he wasn't playing that I take issue with - he is rubbish but he's not been that bad that we'd clearly have won...

    2022/23 Sean Dyche

Nah Keane had a few good games to be fair to him, it's total revisionism to claim he was rubbish right from when he came into the side. I would never have brought him back in to the side and have said as much numerous times, but I just can't get on board with this idea that he was single...

    2022/23 Sean Dyche

Yeah and that obviously skews it but the point still stands generally. Obviously the games Keane was in for include Arsenal away on a title hunt, and the other 2 members of the top 4 but very few people included that as a caveat in the many, many, posts quoting the exact same stat about goals...

    2022/23 Sean Dyche

It's surely worth noting that we've averaged 2 goals conceded in the games since he's been dropped too, and so it's possible that the idea of him being entirely responsible for everything that was wrong may just have been a little bit silly and childlike in it's simplicity?

    The Everton Board Thread

I don't think that's contradictory in itself though is it? Obviously the sensible approach is not to proclaim it as a good or bad thing until we've got a bit more to go on, people saying it's great are just as bad as people saying it's not.

    The Everton Board Thread

I do agree with the sentiment but then in fairness to the people panicking i'm pretty sure people would have said the same about Moshiri coming in, and about Kenwright taking over from Johnson etc etc. Forget the cliche, things can always get worse. And when you're Everton, they usually do.

    The Everton Board Thread

A couple of companies supposedly interested at £600m makes us evidently waaaaaaay more attractive than I would have expected us to be if i'm honest.

    2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I wouldn't say it's a myth. It might not turn out to be the case but it really isn't that outlandish a claim. Anyway hopefully DCL is fit for the last 2 and can pull something out of the bag for us so it isn't a concern.

    Players Out on Loan 2022/23

I saw Tyrer a few times this season and he was very very good at that level. It's very difficult to know where that actually puts him though, because obviously some of the sides he's up against are barely semi-pro. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on higher up the pyramid, but it's worth...

    Summer transfer window 2023

Our strategy at that time - I assume we're talking Moyes - did involve buying PL proven players a large proportion of the time though. We supplemented it with others but i'd imagine the bulk of the players he signed already had PL experience. Even some of the main ones that people use as...
