Match Thread Everton v Nottingham Forest - Pre-Match Chat, Match Report & MotM Poll

I only read the first few pages of this so apologies if this is a point made elsewhere (but I haven't seen it). People saying Forest will "sit in" or make it tough for us to break them down have clearly not watched them very often. Gibbs-White, Elanga, Hudson-Odoi will be rubbing their hands...

New Government Regulated EPL Subscription TV Channel.

This would be effectively getting rid of the 3 o'clock blackout too, which would be catastrophic for non-league football. When - and I do believe it's when a streaming service comes in, rather than if, I think the easiest way to not completely destroy smaller clubs would be to have PL games...

I can't get my head around people being more annoyed at the referee than our manager throwing in the towel at HT

Enormous difference between sitting back and ceding control entirely to them by removing any semblance of attacking intent at HT. Predictable defeat, but good grief, at least make them earn it.

The law is broken, I agree, but there's not a lot anyone can do mid-game

I don't think "deliberate" (or not) is a factor.

Totally on Dyche this one. He sh1t himself and brought two defenders on. We all know what Keane is like. We'll survive again and that'll be seen as fine 😴🤷🏼‍♂️

    Zonal marking

Well yes, but that's what I was saying. When it's good it works fine, but when applied poorly, like on Saturday, it looks amateur.

    Zonal marking

Nobody minds "zonal marking" when players simply head away crosses at the near post zone. To dismiss it as new fangled or "arty-farty" is to massively misunderstand modern football. We're just sh1te at it, as others have said, when it is done properly it's fine.

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

I find it so bizarre when opposition fans seek out other clubs forums (fora?), create an account and engage with people. This Luton fan seems alright but just couldn't do it myself. Anyway, up the bitter blues.

We were told that he'd get the best out of them. Not seen a bit of it.

It was this kind of thinking that meant we kept Lampard for too long. Dyche isn't getting a tune out of these players, and the fact I don't know who would is irrelevant .

Feels weird making a positive point, but think this is the best game I've seen Myko have.

    Relegation 23/24 Thread

That doesn't mean Dyche can give up on the players he has though, because he wants new ones. One sub made before 90 minutes, and surely motivation and tactics - things he can control, have to be the focus

    2022/23 Jordan Pickford

At the risk of making myself unpopular - why wouldn't he go? He's dedicated a fair few of his prime years to us, been absolutely amazing, and he may think he owes us nothing and that it's tempting to go and try another club - where he could earn a lot of money and play in more prestigious...
