£10,000 cheaper to buy than to rent a house

Whats the average three bedroom place worth in England then?

Here its probably 200 - 300k in the towns, 300 - 600k in the City (AUD)

Its bloody tough to buy, so me and the gf have uni students to share the burden. Works out quite well actually.

Depressing as I will be forced to rent when I finish Uni because theres no chance I will be able to afford a deposit for years.

houses here are dearer than aus and nz although in relation to wages they are cheaper.
i was offered a job in nz this year (lower hutt) and started to look into schools and housing, that very day the front page of the nz herald bore the headline "nz housing overtakes aus housing for first time in history" the report said that to if you were on the average wage buying the average priced house then it would take 18 1/2 years of salary to pay for it.....thats pure salary without spending any of it on living.
that is the reason i am still here and not there, it was a good job tbh and the wage wasnt bad either but the housing situation but the block on it. house prices have risen in aus and nz just as much as here, but with higher interest rates over there most people would be worse off, this is the reason that a lot who emigrate end up coming back.
mrs b.o.g. would have to work if we went whereas here with tax credits and family alloawance she would be working for nothing, so she is able to put all her efforts into bringing up our 3 chidren, this is what they are meant for after all, we have to do without some things but are of the opinion that when you have kids you have to make sacrifices.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10487926 heres the story about nz housing being the least affordable. most of us in the uk will know someone who is thinking of emigrating and they only seem to get positive info, there are a lot of negs. too and it is wise to find them out.

I bought a house last year, I wanted to do further lending and get an extra bit put onto my mortgage. I had to have a re valuation to make sure my house is in line with how much I think its worth.

This guy came round who wasnt from the area and rather stuck up to do the valuation. I then got a phone call from my mortgage lender that it was valued at £5k less than I paid for it a year ago!!!! I have disputed this as 4 houses in my street have gone for £15k more than I paid for it.

A house is worth what someone will pay for it.
