£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

I'd drive a harder bargain than £45M for a player we'll get no resale value for.

Ripped off.
Why do we need to sell him?

We're buying players to help us win trophies and/or challenge for a place in the top 4.

You're living in the time of old Everton.

Man City were buying the likes of Wayne Bridge, Sean Wright-Philips and Craig Bellamy for big fees and huge wages when they were trying to build their profile up.

This is something we have to do.

I'm glad to see the investment. We've shown we can get the value deals, but now showing we can back a manager and get him a player he wants at a high price.

I've waited for this for years, I'm definitely not going to moan.

All that's been spent is money coming in mate...and you've seen that for the last 15 years at least.

It'll be the fourth time this summer Everton have been had off by no mark clubs for millions.

We could have bought two more players with rational prices paid for Pickford (should have been £20M); Klaassen (should have been £18M); Keane (should have been £20M); and now Sigurdsson (should have been no more that £30M).

That's about £40+M that could have bought a CB and new LB...or a quality attacker to lead the team.

Madness, utter madness.

And now we have to sell Barkley to fund this one.

It's gross irresponsibility with the player sale cash we'll have as a once in a generation chance to make pay.

Our majority shareholder is backing our manager. Negotiations are not that easy and straightforward in reality, this ain't like pressing a few times x button on ps4 controller and we can sign who we like on FIFA.

Maybe you can get 1 of them with "rational price" on the last day of the transfer window. The plan, as it stands, is to get the new players in early and be prepared for the new season. I, as an Evertonian, am glad because something has changed. That is, even we have sold Lukaku because he wanted to go.

You think we're doing a City?

Honestly?

Dear me. We are not at the races mate. Not remotely.

They spent big time, we're spending the cash from assets in blue jerseys that have been cashed in.

Big, big difference.

£30M top whack probably. That';s what happens when a manager forces the issue with daft, impossible to sustain ultimatums.

Koeman lost us £20M with the way he's isolated Barkley.
You say we're overpaying for Sigurdsson who has been one of the best midfielders in the league over the past four seasons with Swansea, then say Koeman cost us £20m on Barkley. That would mean you value Barkley at £50m!

Please try and stay consistent!

We're investing money in the squad, we're clearly trying to challenge for a place in the top 4.

Only Lukaku is a player who is a guaranteed starter who we have sold. He wanted to go, we had no choice.

Literally no one else we sell is a big loss, if any loss at all.

Let me remind you what this club has just bid for a player with zero resale value...
