I can see Bill sitting smugly thinking he's saved 200 grand but it's hurting the club. We need a striker and we've instead wasted a month on a less essential player, albeit a very good player in his own right.

C'mon Tim, you have no idea what's involved in these negotiations, all this Bill saving £50 is boring. Nobody has any idea what's been going on behind the scenes, we've got our 4 main targets in, plus loads for the development group.

What's more concerning is we clearly aren't moving on to other targets until this is done. We are missing half a squad and the Premier League starts in t-minus 100 hours.

Dear Deidre,

The football team I follow are thinking of buying a footballer from Iceland, but I have really have concerns over it and it is causing me sleepless nights amongst other issues.

First of all, he is 27 years old and will be 28 in September. This is causing me great distress, as what if they cannot get money back on him in 4 years time? I realise it is not my money, but that is something I just cannot seem to shake off and it is keeping me awake at nights.

I am a quivering mess with it all and it is leading me to make brash, unfounded and sometimes over aggressive remarks, especially when I am over tired and grumpy from blurting pap on my keyboard all day. it is also causing erectile dysfunction, but I know a bloke down the pub who can help with that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not that simple mate. There are a million other factors that could see that £50m made up.

Just one for example, a new young player comes through and Real Madrid sign him for £89m. Not as far fetched as it sounds.

Or Funes Mori gets sold for £90m.

My ma's on holiday with my sister in Melbourne at the present. She's quite elderly (85), but still has a huge zest for life in her. She's discovered Whatsapp, and every 10 minutes my phone pings with one of her incoming messages telling me what's she's doing, sending photos etc...quite cute really.
