Player Valuation: £100m
A few bits from both this and Joyce's 'one year on' piece that also came out today:
- People at Everton wanted Potter to replace Moyes, but TFG put their foot down and said it was Moyes (god that would have been disastrous in hindsight)
- TFG had earmarked needing 200m to revamp the squad last summer but ended up spending less
- Lesson learned from their early days at Roma about long contracts/high salaries for older players
- Lots of mention about how everything at the club is focused on revenue generation now
- A 'small' PSR benefit from the transfer of the women's team
- A desire to do something with the area around HD, particularly Nelson Dock
- Confident in being able to find workarounds if we and Roma end up in the same European competition
- Repetitions of how much better the picture is financially in terms of loans, debts etc
- The board receive reports after every game from Chris Howarth, our new head of strategy who's the guy who founded the data company that TFG bought (this guy, his approach and his experience are one of the biggest questions I have about the new setup - feels very shadowy to me and no real history in football it seems)
- Dan Friedkin has pushed some sort of AI modelling thing to help with injury prevention
- Some collaboration with Roma and Cannes on things like medical approaches
- Large revenue increases already (up 30% this year compared to 23/24)
- Academy needs huge improvement, seen as a long way off where it should be
@Neiler @hetion
Ive read the Joyce article but where are you getting the £200mil from? The initial post is blank for me...
Overall it's been quite a solid year of progress under TFG stewardship. Not spectacular but I wouldn't have expected that given the starting point.
I'm interested next year to learn the identity of the new shirt sponsor and whether TFG can shift the dial and help us attract better, a credible brand in a credible industry.
There has been talk I believe about trying to pitch Everton and Roma together in that respect, to attract a joint sponsor for a value that neither club could obtain on their own.
We need European football on every level and that has to be the short term aim. I'd be happy with Conference League qualification in the next season or two. The club needs the exposure, we need more games, we need the players and staff adapting to more games, and the need to grow the squad in depth and quality as a result. We need the revenue growth from more games, and more media and marketing exposure.
Need european competition to not only give the players the exposure to different types of football (they can organically improve from) but also so the younger players get game time.
If we had Europe this year Aznou, Dibling and probably Harrison would ne starting those games & it would also attract other u21s to join.
