Eat the rich

It appears to me that British people seem to have a need for a hierarchical society. They fawn over the royals, they forgive the worst of behaviour and even bestow on them a religious like reverence. The form of governance requires the agreement of the “other place “, a forum peopled by those by right of birth, by wealth or by closeness to those in power. How can a country be truly democratic when an unelected head of state has to sign off on bills passed by government or that those bills have to go through an unelected second house again of people who are not answerable to the electorate.
Britain will bestow honours on multi-millionaire businessmen, entertainers or entrepreneurs while turning their face from workers withholding their labour to try and improve their moderate lot.
For me and the willingness of the British, but more accurately the English, to not only put up with but to vote for an unjust society is the state of the latest party of government, when your party of the working man is made up by those who believe that the rich cannot be taxed more even though they are getting more and more wealthy in case they decide to leave is an absolute anathema.
One final point, I work in a job where I have to wear a suit on a regular basis, I am treated differently when I wear jeans and a tee shirt from when I wear a suit. People immediately assume that as I can afford a suit my opinion must carry more weight than why I am in civvies. It is a small point that amuses me but a poignant one.
