What about Disney Princesses? My wife loves them, so I collect her special edition special special special figurines for occasions.
Shes not really a girly girl so that rules out things like hair straighteners amd cosmetic stuff.
No jewelery either, she'll only ever wear a necklace that I got her for her last birthday.
Shes a right nightmare to buy for.
I am steering well clear of cooking Dylan, its not one of my talents 
We are going to Blackpool a week before her birthday, could perhaps think of something to do there as a surprise...

She doesn't drink mate, although good idea. I got her some fancy pink champagne for valentines day and it took months to be drank on a 'special occasion'.
Think so far a few odd bits like a watch and restaurant is best idea. Any suggestions for ones in Liverpool?

get her a really good bottle of champagne to celebrate 18 and her legality for drinking, chilled with ice and some strawberries (good ones)

Whatever it is that you do, a woman loves it when you take the time to plan something out. It may not end up the way you want it to but she'll really appreciate the fact that you spent time thinking up some ideas for her.

i once (for a 22nd i think) for my old girlfriend wrote twenty two things i loved or thought was cool about her and then put each note in a balloon in her bedroom. she popped each balloon and read each message. add an ice cream cake into the mix, it worked well for young teppic that night i can tell you!
