2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Survival is as much a mentality thing as it is anything else

What you can NEVER do in a situation like this is rest on the laurels, and that goes for everyone, supporters included

Until you're safe, you're not safe, and you can't drop the intensity one little bit until you're over the line

It's been SUCH a drag having to maintain that kind of intensity for, now, four seasons on the trot, and it's no surprise that Goodison has been so flat for most of this season

It wears you down, but you have to just pull up your socks and get on with it in the hope that you once again survive and next season you finally kick on and finish higher up the table with less stress attached to it

I hope we stay up and next season we don't need one of these threads, but right now it's a survival season and we need to get it right once again as a fan base, like we've done the past three seasons

Good post. This was the first properly good weekend we've had in a long time but this will continue to be a slog and 1 win won't change that unfortunately due to the wretched damage we've done in the first half of the season.

Feel much better about our chances but until we're sitting pretty 10 points clear then we are in the thick of it and will be for a while yet. Hopefully now we've got a jump on the below teams we can back it up.

It's weird. I didn't want Moyes back, but now that he is, and we've played the 'Moyes way' in the last couple of games, this is the most optimistic I've felt* since late November 1994..

We're playing like a cohesive unit for the first time in yonks, look like an attacking threat in God knows how long, and..

We're still in the F.A. Cup..

*In a relegation battle.

Honestly I think it depends on whether we can have a sustained run and break away from the pack, and also whether someone else has a bad run and drops in

The only team I could really see the latter happening to is Palace, and even then it's unlikely

Spurs, United and West Ham will all be fine

If Palace lose 3-4 on the bounce whilst someone like Us, Wolves or Ipswich can put a run together at the same time, then they could always get dragged into it again and then they have to get a survival season mentality going from a standing start whilst the rest of us have been dog fighting all season and will arguably be better equipped to handle it mentally

Po slave have lost one of their last 11 in the league mate, 21 points out of 33 available during that time not sure what makes you think they could get dragged into it they're already on 27 points 😂

Vitor speaking out quite a bit on individual players, mostly their good ones like Lemina and Cunha, could all start going badly there if results continue to be poor.

Rule no 1 of football management mate, you don’t break the 4th wall of the dressing room, Vitor dropped the ball above. Cunha and the other players won’t be happy there.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Cunha is off and knows someone’s going to come in for him.
