2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I did think Leicester would regret sacking Cooper. He was keeping one of the weakest squads in the league competetive every game and they were outside the relegation zone. It would have been a struggle for him but I don’t see them being pointed 7 games in a row under Cooper, he’d have got a few draws in there at least and kept them in the battle. Now they’re looking doomed.
Agree, should never have got rid, they had no new Manager bounce

First big test for Moyes - Away Game!
Moyes' Kryptonite.

I think he has found a formula with that last formation and should we win v Brighton, we move onto 23 points with a game in hand over the bottom 4.

17th - Wolves (16pts) play Arsenal at home
18th - Ipswich (16pts)play Liverpool away
19th - Leicester (14pts) play Spurs away
20th - Southampton (6pts) play Newcastle at home

If all 4 lose, we could open a gap of 7 points from 17th place. That will be huge and I think will be interesting regarding transfers also because we will be nearly the safety net and better players maybe interested.

Statistically we are probably unlikely to get the three points although we have a decent record down there.

In the context of the games for the other teams a point would be decent and represent a very solid start to Moyes' management. A win would obviously be excellent, if you are down there and put two wins together it's a huge step in the right direction.

I do hope we'll give it a good go though and not revert to type. The players should be looking forward to this game and not dreading it. It should not need to be a backs to the wall performance for 90 minutes.

Not sure Moyes parking the bus will be as all-in as Dyche - we saw the collapse against Spurs and it was a little concerning. Do we need at least 2 goals to get a draw there ?

Forget the game in hand. That’s gone

One thing I will say, is that I’m glad we removed Moyes from the manager’s market right now.
And put Dyche in it. I’d love him at Leicester just in time for the Goodison game, trying to churn out all those clean sheets with Wout Faes and Michael Keane marshalling the other 8 outfield players behind the ball at all times. Smashing it long in the air for Jamie Vardy… a thing of real beauty.

Going to stick my neck out and say we'll finish somewhere between 12th and 15th (probably 15th) with around 40 points, but that the current bottom three (who will be the ones to go down) are so bad that as little as 35 points would be good enough to avoid relegation this season.
I’d be disappointed if we don’t pull further than 5 or 6 points away from the bottom three by May. We’re already 4 clear and are only just getting going under Moyes.

If that meant them paying him and us not paying the rest of his contract then I'd be as happy as I have ever been sbout another club's misfortune.

35 has been the average for last decade or so I think?

Just needing 30 points to get to 17th would be a bit of a free pass season. I still think it's too early for anyone to declare that. Let's see what points 18th is on at the start of April.
