2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Spurs are 19th in the form table for the last 10 games, picking up only 4 points in that time.

That was with a win against Southampton (20th in form table) and a draw at home to Wolves. They have also been beaten by both Everton and Leicester in the last week.

I am not surprised that they are worried about relegation...

Do I think they will get relegated.... No.

Are they in for a very nervous last 15 games... Yes

Do they have the mentality and manager to get through these games... I am not sure.

Sadly I’m saying this every season currently because we’re always in these relegation battles, but the two things that kill clubs like us in these situations are apathy and arrogance

If we let those Two A’s start creeping in before the job is done then we’re opening the door to potential jeopardy

If we can’t be arsed to get into survival mode, or we’re too cocky and think we’re out before we actually are, then we’re inviting danger

Let’s dig in now and fight until we’re out. No resting on the laurels until it’s over. As a fanbase we still have a big role to play in this
Absolutely.

Funny that teams around our current level start the season with relaxed, tentative optimism, reach a point where everyone realises “bugger, we are in trouble here, we have to start winning NOW.” The club, players and fans all strain every sinew to amass points and steer clear of the drop.

The clubs near the top are like that every game, every training session, year after year after year. They must be knackered.

I'm a creature of logic... for us to drop into the bottom 3, 2x of the following scenarios must play out:

- Leicester have to win 2 more games than us (50% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).
- Wolves have to win 2 more games than us (50% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games plus an extra draw to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).
- Ipswich have to win 2 more games than us (66% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games plus an extra draw to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).

Possible? Absolutely. Likely? I'm not so sure.

3 more wins should do it for us as that would mean those below us need to there or thereabouts double their PPG for the remainder of the season just to catch us. 5 more wins would be great.
If we beat Leicester and Wolves I think that we are safe. We would need more points but we'd have 10 games to get around 6 points. April looks grim but one thing that we are good at thanks to Dyche is grinding out draws.

Just looking at Spurs fixtures. They play some team I've never heard of in the Europa League Thursday followed by a tough trip to Brentford Sunday followed by the semi-final EFL Cup which they lead 1-0 but will surely get blown away by the RS. Can't see Ange lasting long, I'm actually surprised he is still there

Yeah I agree that those are not particularly likely scenarios. 5 wins just feels comfortable to me lol

This could be a big issue for them. They started the season aiming for the Champions League places, how easy is it to switch focus during a season to surviving a relegation fight?

Yeah they’re in a spiral at the minute but they can easily go out and score 5 past someone.

Everton are 16th after 22 games, 7points ahead of 18th/19th place, and 17 ahead of bottom

Same stage last season

Everton with deduction after 22 games were 16th, 1 point above Luton in 18th, 8 points ahead of 2nd bottom Burnley, and 10points ahead of bottom placed Sheff Utd

Everton after 22 games without deduction would have been 12th on 28 points. 9 points ahead of Luton in 18th, 16points ahead of Burnley in 19th and 18points ahead of Sheff Utd at bottom.
