2024/25 Relegation Thread

My own little thiny fear on that, is as we know we a lot of the time become the "1st" when a team need to win or anything else. Considering they havent won in 22 league games since early march (17 defeats/5draws). I hope we are not that one

Didn’t they win the playoff final?

The gap to the bottom 3 is a false one currently, being as they are on 3pts from 8. We're averaging a point per game and have had decent fixtures.

I don't currently think we'll go down, but to assume we're going to be comfortable at this stage is lunacy and the exact sort of presumptuous mentality that sleepwalks teams into big trouble. We need a couple more wins asap in this kinder run of games.
We might not earn many points this side of Christmas given our fixture list starts to get real soon.

Southampton is a must-win if we want to be remotely comfortable. Losing there primes us to be the the third of the three to drop. A draw is no great shakes, either. It means we are well in the mix as our horrible upcoming fixtures will likely see us plummet unless Dyche can surprise a few better sides.

We've often ( even under Dyche ) picked up points against the "better " teams , points we didn't expect and so I certainly hope that December won't be as dismal as most on here think ......if nothing else it's got Xmas and my birthday in that month 😂

A lot of confidence that we won’t go down, but we are right in the mix tbh.

I mean in our squad - which players are too good to be in a bottom 3 side?

I’d say definitely;
Pickford
Tarks
Branthwaite
N’Diaye
Gueye

Possibly;
DCL
McNeil

And worryingly 4 of those have actually been relegated. I don’t think there is anyone else in the squad that you could say is noticeably better than those at a typical bottom 3 side.

We finished 12th last season so what’s happened over this summer to make us as bad as or worse than Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich?

I think we are right there amongst the worst 4 or 5 sides this season. An unlikely run of late wins last season papered over a lot of very big cracks.

But even without that late run of wins we would’ve been safe? We picked up 22 points more than the 18th placed side. Only a points deduction had us in the relegation battle in the first place.

We’re a mid table side. If people are thinking we can’t possibly finish higher than 17th then they’ve been hoodwinked by this manager and the narrative he likes to put out to the media. We’re being made to look like we can’t pass a ball to each other by his coaching and tactics.

The fact you’ve just reeled off a list of at least 7 players that would go straight into the bottom 3 sides actually speaks volumes. I don’t think it made the point you wanted it to make. Clearly we are much better than them.

How in the world are we amongst the worst 4 sides, when we have two wins in 9 matches, and the other 4 have absolutely no wins in an astounding 36 matches?

The promoted teams are dross as they were last season. 3rd bottom barely scraped 20 points.

If we're bad we could finish 17th but we'd have to be catastrophic and have a major injury crisis to be bottom 3.
