2024/25 Relegation Thread

This time last year (nearly) the rats at the PL decided to do us over. We then had a bad loss to Man U, so headed in to December on 4 points.

I'll say that again. December. 4 points. It's only the 4th of November now, and 4 points would have you second bottom.

He did remarkably well to keep the players focused, motivated and not looking like they had ready made excuses.

He still gets spoke about like a dog though. I think it's a hangover from the cesspit this place became during the Benitez period myself.

Funny thing is, I'm almost certain some of his critics went to bat for Lampard, and he's definitely a worse manager than Dyche, yet they're now belittling anybody who wants to back this Everton manager.

12 months ago had just won 1-0 at West Ham so that's the challenge, replicate that result. Also beat Bournemouth 3-0 and won at Palace before the first deduction dropped so I fear the team was just playing significantly better compared to now and then the deduction galvanised the team to win four in a row which pretty much secured safety.

I can't see anything like that happening with the fixture list for the next two months.

Not for me. I think 3 or 4 points in the next 3 games keeps him in situ comfortably. He was closer to being sacked before the Palace game than he is now, imo. We've lost 1 in the last 6. If the decision weren't taken before them 6 games, then it's certainly not gonna be made now.

The press will know, as is normally the case, if he's coming up to a 'must win' game. The pressure's just not there yet, I'm afraid. Despite the narrative some want to push.

Don't see it like that at all Dave.

Friedkin will have the keys to the castle by January hopefully and how often do you see a quick change when that happens? I personally think they'll have no option either with how bad the form will be at that point.
Nah. That's a move that no one would take having spent hundreds of millions on acquiring the club.

If TFG do buy the club before the end of the season you can be sure they'll want to keeping place the man who's proven he knows how to avoid relegation.

I keep hearing if Pep came in we'd still be relegation fodder etc. I don't buy that, we have a squad that should comfortably be top 10 +, it's the tactics week in week out that kills us.
It's a poor squad with no depth. Our forwards don't convert chances well enough and our fullbacks are non-existent. Our best performer so far this season is playing out of position on the wing because our wing options are awful.

All of this is compounded by the dreadful tactics we're employing.

We didn’t see anything like the 4 wins in a row, till it happened.

We can’t predict …

But the hope is what kills it

Not this season.

The PL has evolved even more so versus last season, and his rubbish tactics have remained the same.

So that crap about "proven he knows how to avoid relegation" is not valid anymore.

Enjoy the Championship.

The fans will have a big say when he gets the boot, there is only so much we can take.

me personally I was done with him when we drew with Leicester away the 1st season he was here.

once the fans turn on him especially at home he will be gone soon after

Added another 34 points from that position. That would probably be enough by itself to keep a team up this season. Hopefully we can see a similar or better return this season.

I think Dyche keeps us up this season but the point is we should be looking up instead of just scrapping by.

We needed to start much much better. We haven't and that's on him. We have 2 big games to help his position and ours which will ease the fanbase restfulness.

When the takeover happens, he is more likely to get bumped because of this season's terrible points tally rather than play. The Friedkins, after what is happening to Roma, won't want to rock the boat but I think their hands have been played on Dyche already.

He is a Dead Man Walking

This isn't healthy. Just saying.

No it isn't. I might be proven wrong, but I will continue to back managers until it's obvious they absolutely have to go.

I turned on Martinez, Silva, Lampard, Koeman and Benitez. In most cases about 2-3 weeks before the club agreed with me.

I will not be criticised for backing an Everton manager. I might be wrong, but I can live with that. Loads of Dyche's biggest critics backed Frank and he's definitely a worse manager. It's not a competition.

Aside from the fact that performances haven’t developed in terms of tactics and style, I’ve been guilty of assessing where we were after 10 games, only tracking to 34 points. The counter I guess to that, is that even last year there will have been points in the season where we were tracking to similar, and there were runs of games we didn’t think we’d get anything out but we did. So it remains to be seen what happens but he is going to have to improve current levels. I still have my doubts despite what happened last season.
