2024/25 Relegation Thread

Interesting to see Villa so far down that table. Wonder if the run in the CL will cost them in the league in the long run as it did Newcastle last season. When you break into the CL places it seems that the hardest thing is to maintain your form to stay at that level for back to back seasons.
When looking at form tables like this, it needs to be taken into account of the opposition played over the six games. Don`t know if it happens to all teams but we seem to have a run coming up with 4 or 5 out of a run of six against the sky 6. It also hurts looking at Southampton and knowing that W in their form was us.

Easy to suggest something that can never be proven. Ancelotti had the benefit of creative talent like Digne, Bernard, Sigurdsson, Rodriguez & Richarlison and managed to get us an underwhelming 10th.

Marco had most of those guys in 18th....at nearly halfway point of the season.

Straight away he comes in and starts beating clubs higher up in the league. Then Covid comes and the home form really isn't there like most clubs and that impacted on things but there was loads of good play and wins in 20/21 to keep me satisfied.

I think even the eternal optimists will look at games individually and have a concern.
West ham. Clinging on for a point at end. Pickford MOM.
Southampton. Lol
Fulham. 94th min equaliser we lets face it never deserved.
Palace. Could have lost that just as much as won it. Non existent first 45.

Ipswich is the only game all season i can say that we deserved the win over 90 minutes.
1 game.
Old cliche but we're papering over crack spouting one loss in 7.

Why just the last 6? Maybe because it changes significantly if you do the last 10 but we cannot show anything that shows how Dyche is really doing can we. It would be a cardinal sin.

The next ten league game table will be interesting.

If Dyche even has the club up to 10th for that one then fair play as think that is a huge ask. I also don't think he'll be here for the 9th and 10th game.

Expecting to lose the next five away games so it's really on all the Goodison games now just as it was for Lampard two years ago. Just hearing Coventry are about to appoint him as their next manager....

It's very tight. When they were 1-0 up at Spurs they were 3rd in the table.

We're such an awkward club that we could get as many points out of 5 bottom half of the PL clubs and the top 5 clubs.

For the past few seasons we've always pulled results out of the bag when not expected and lose them when you think they're bankers.

I can see us enjoying elite clubs coming too us if we have a settled back 4/5.

Last 6 games are surely more an indication of current form? 🤷‍♂️
There have only been 11 games so that is the current form really mate. When you start doing half of that it jumps all over the show game by game, for instance if you do the last 4 then we drop down to 12th.

The only thing that is important really is that we have won 2 out of 11 and are 16th and need to do an awful lot better.

I think a last 7 game sequence where you only get beat once shows at the very least a competitive team...we can debate all day about the quality of it and the tactics deployed by the manager, of course

We had, statistically-speaking, the easiest first 10 games in the league - and then a woefully out-of-form West Ham as number 11. We haven't won enough points, lost to the worst team in the league, and now face a run of matches that Moshiri would invariably chalk down as "expected defeats".

Dyche simply HAS to win points against the odds now - it's no longer optional. If he does that, he'll remain in situ. If we go bottom three by Christmas, our new overlords will likely be in by then and will probably pull the trigger.
