2024/25 Relegation Thread

How about the following as a reasonable scenario. We get relegated this season (not for certain but quite likely). Sean is replaced for 25/26 with an enthusiastic new manager with some cash to spend. We get promoted in 25/26 backed by frenzied fans in a full BMD. 26/27 we re-establish as a mid table Premiership club and go from there.
Honestly, if we cannot become a serious club over the coming two weeks, yup - that might be the best-case scenario - because we are merely existing as cannon fodder for the Uniteds of this league. This is the third season running we are fighting for our lives. We got lucky in the 90s twice on the final day - and once more in 2023. If we are still in the mire up to the end this season, why should we feel hard-done-by if we drop? As a club we have learned no lessons. We will deserve it richly. Even the new owners dithered in the summer. They should be in by now, but they wanted to save a few quid. Fair enough. Let's hope relegation doesn't wipe out their gains.

We have a better squad of players than at least 3 or 4 other teams in the premier league. Relegation wouldn’t be an issue for us if we had a decent manager who could get the best out of the squad.

I would say only the promoted clubs personally. Palace and Wolves have comparable squads if not better in key areas given the quality of Eze and Cunha.

Can’t argue with anything you say here. The new owners ( if it happens) are partly to blame for this seasons woes though. Apparently we had players lined up to sign. Then has to pull the plug on deals when the takeover went south.

The vibe from last season is most def not there. Last season was the usual low scoring sean dyche master class but the key now is the goal difference. We're the same crappy GD as clubs around us. That wasnt the case last year.
bad bad feeling the year of the new stadium this chump takes us down.

GD very likely to get much worse in next 4-5 games. Could easily be -20 by end of Man. City away. Southampton are worst in league but only at -15 which surprised me.

The first half hour was actually decent today. Some good counters let down by the usual chronic overthinking in final third and McNeill having no right foot whatsoever.

Went to pot once going a goal down but that's the start I want to see v Wolves and hopefully go a goal up early and settle everyone down.

I'd prefer...
We sack Sean this week.
Appoint Lee Carsley as interim manager until Carlo becomes available.

We get 70 odd points from our remaining games with a good FAC Cup run.

I win the lottery and somehow get a front row seat at our new home BMD.

We begin our rise to pinnacle of professional football and become the premier club of Europe.

For starters. And then...

If any manager, present or future, actually sees that if we play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, we shoot up the league with ease

Pickford
O'Brien - Tarkowski - Branthwaite

That's the bedrock of the team

That donkey Wolves have up front smashing his chances in hard and with confidence despite their form. They defended like idiots, but I’d rather be scoring and losing than what we are currently doing.

Must act tomorrow.
Aside from the kamikaze defending offensively they played some good stuff and move the ball about quickly, getting decent chances for the big ale house up front.

We make nothing much for our ale house attackers.

Wolves have way too much quality in midfield and attack to be down with us for much longer - Cunha walks into most teams.

We’re gonna need them to defend like they did yesterday to get anything at all, and they will make chances for themselves - could be another painful night for us.

Have to start beating the teams around us or we’re toast, can’t be relying of unexpected wins, they should be a bonus.
