2024/25 Relegation Thread

your post was. getting relegated isn’t a bad thing?

ha ha ha ha ok mert
No try and read again, wouldn't be as bad as a few years ago as we have got rid of more high earners with more to follow at the end of the season and have a huge revenue increase coming, relegation 2 or 3 seasons ago would have been much worse

Try and read something properly before replying with playground insults

Basically a Wolves win tomorrow from dropping into the bottom 3.

With RS, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man. City all next.

Great.

It's not looking pretty but the manager and players should be looking at tomorrow as an opportunity to open up a 5 point cushion with them tougher games to come. There's no excuse to go out and perform like cowards, we need a performance from them.

Other than Southampton, all those below us have as much if not more quality than Everton and lack the negativity around their clubs we have. We’re only 2 points clear with an awful run coming. If we’d have been six clear then maybe we could have been clear by Jan but it’ll take a miracle for us not to be next to bottom by start of the transfer window.
It will probably take a miracle for us not to be in the bottom 3 tomorrow night.

Can't believe we have people on here saying relegation wouldn't be a bad thing/ wouldn't be that impactful.

The championship is littered with teams that have never come back up, most that do go straight back down again.
Loss of revenue from TV deals, reduction in sponsorship revenue, better players leaving. Unfortunately a shiny new stadium guarantees nothing results wise and promotion back up would be far from a formality.

The only way to build the club back up is by getting new owners in asap, getting a change of manager, getting the fans back onside and getting to BMD still in the premier league.

If we lose tomorrow, my default position will be we're going down. Time for acceptance now. The club has learned nothing from the last three years because...here we are again.

One thing relegation will definitely do is eliminate the complacent culture that has eaten this club from inside. We still cling to our history, but the old stadium will soon be rubble and our history won't mean too much more than that when we are contemplating life in the Championship.

This club needs to be reborn. Even now, in our death throws, you have Evertonians pining for David Moyes or suggesting Lee Carsley as our new manager when we are about to engage in a fight for our lives (though hopefully with competent ownership).

Nah, if we go down this season it'll be richly deserved and will serve as a catalyst to real change. With proper owners, we'll be back in a year or two at the latest - and a new club, no longer dragged down by the dead hand of its own history and complacency, can start again.

Not like me to be so positive.

I hope we stay up, but not as much as I hoped we would last year or the season before. We learned nothing from 2023. It was only the points deduction that truly fired my desire for us to stay up in 2024. Without that, I think I would have been less invested. I'm even less invested in the 2025 battle. You can't mismanage the club to this extent without richly deserving your fate. Even the Friedkins played fast and loose with their Lanigan's Ball carry-on over the summer. We're still waiting for them because they put a better deal above all else. Well, hope your gains aren't wiped out in the Championship, Dan.
