2024/25 Relegation Thread

I don't normally place a huge amount of stock in football stats and charts like this but this one just seems to say that everyone has given up.

That has been my fear with us that a time would come where the fight would go and the players accept the clubs fate before kick off. It becomes everyone's fault but nobody's fault..

Then it's a spiral and you drop like a stone.

This is why we need a new manager yesterday.

Can't believe we have people on here saying relegation wouldn't be a bad thing/ wouldn't be that impactful.

The championship is littered with teams that have never come back up, most that do go straight back down again.
Loss of revenue from TV deals, reduction in sponsorship revenue, better players leaving. Unfortunately a shiny new stadium guarantees nothing results wise and promotion back up would be far from a formality.

The only way to build the club back up is by getting new owners in asap, getting a change of manager, getting the fans back onside and getting to BMD still in the premier league.

Well if you actually look at it, our better players all leave anyway, loads are out of contract, we wouldn’t be going down with an astronomical wage bill and multiple dossers on 5 year £100k a week contracts, our stadium revenue would dwarf basically everyone else in the Championship. So I’d actually say we’re better equipped under new owners to bounce straight back from the Championship than we would’ve been 3 years ago when we still had multiple years on the contracts of Holgate, Keane, Gomes etc to run. That would’ve finished us off.

The fact we’ve been run to a point where this is even a discussion is a disgrace though tbf.

The sad fact is, whichever fixtures we have coming up... at the moment they look difficult. Even Wolves tonight! If we end up in the bottom 3 tonight, then its not by accident, its because we deserve to be there. This squad should be performing far better than it is.
Everyone must be rubbing their hands together when they see they have us to play. Look at Sunday. A new manager not won in the league, couple of forwards who have been crap getting a brace, we are a punchline of a club.

I wonder if we can set a record for gifting a first win for managers who have never managed in the Premier League before? Currently on two this season and counting...

This is depressing, but also symptomatic of our lack of legs. If we press teams we leave chasms across the pitch because we’ve got no recovery pace.

We used to get murdered under Lampard and did at the start of this season when we stepped out a bit.

I think we’ve gone too far into our shell now by far but we can’t press high with these players, we need to inject some life into this squad somehow in January.

Absolutely stink of it, been saying this since last season.
It’s clear as day now that last summer should have been “Great job keeping us up and dealing with all the deductions, sincerely thank you, here’s your bag of cash, bye. Thanks again. 🤜🤛

Instead we went “Great job keeping us up and dealing with all the deductions, we’ve got you a couple of number 10’s to solve the winger shortage. Crack on.”
