2024/25 Relegation Thread

Why would I imagine something that's actually impossible unless Ipswich beat Newcastle by a LOT of goals.

Theres been a line of people saying "imagine" for the past couple months about things that haven't happened yet. I dont get the weird obsession with imagining terrible things that dont come to pass. When some 1% event does happen, then you can obsess over it.

They don’t have to beat them by a lot of goals. If they beat them by 1 goal and we lose by 2 goals to both Chelsea and then City, then they’re above us. I’m sorry I’m not delusional enough to look at that league table and upcoming fixtures and think we’re absolutely cruising to safety.

Don’t think anyone thinks we’re safe yet but we shouldn’t have any problems if we carry on defending like we have done recently (6 clean sheets in 9). Just need a few more goals.

Forest show ambitions for a Europe run, very good performance today tbf.

They probably had the best window of any transfer club. Milenkovic been brilliant at the back, he'll cause issues at set pieces in a few weeks so need Tarks and Branthwaite to be fully on it.

Elliot Anderson also had a great game so they benefited from Newcastle needing to sell him to meet PSR requirements.

Nuno basically produced a replica of his top half Wolves team in under a year which is an impressive achievement.

It's a template for the next manager of this club to follow with some new signings. Hard working and pressing central midfield with rapid pace outlets either side of the CF. They didn't even start Elanga or Ward-Prowse tonight.

Jep, and I know Ward Prowse would start every game under Dyche and probably in half of every other prem team.

Probably only attacking player that would make their squad is Ndiaye maybe sometimes McNeil.

Just shows there’s really no point in trying to predict results. You don’t have to go back very far in this thread to read folk suggesting we’ll be bottom by Christmas or we’re getting zero points in December etc, and yet here we are having just drawn away at Arsenal and the lowest we can possibly be by the end of this weekend is 16th having played a game less than those around us.

There’s still a long way to go, and after those calamitous games at the start of the season, we've sorted the defence. Don’t get me wrong, it’s by no means great and it’ll still be uncomfortable, but I do think we’ll be fine.

Still think we’re OK as all 3 promoted teams are crap and will go down, with wolves struggling too for good measure. Get City and Chelsea out of the way, maybe with a point, and then a must-win on the 29th.1 point per game will be fine. Then maybe we can actually turn into a football club over summer….
