[Welton Toffee]

Today was the day when Rodders' football career was back for one day only. I was roped into playing for my Dad's work at a 5-a-side tournament. It was quite bigger and more competitive than I'd imagined and all the teams were of a decent standard.

I played in defence mainly in the group matches. We were unbeaten 0-0, 2-0, 1-1 and 0-0 so went through to the semis. I played midfield for that in what was by far my best game, got some decent runs at their defence and had a shot well blocked. Unfortunately it finished 0-0 and went to pens and it was only 3 pens each. We lost 3-2 with their winning penalty hitting the crossbar, bouncing (just) over the line and out again. Gutted!

Was a great day though and I was the youngest player in the whole tournmanet, but I think I managed to hold my own. Here's some pics for your amusement.... Oh yeah, and I wanted to wear my Everton kit but my team was full of redshite so we had to play in red. Obviously I don't own ANY item of red clothing, so my Barca shirt had to do!!

We play 5 a side every Sunday and are currently top of the league, me and 5 mates, [Poor language removed] superb we are.

But if memory serves me it was a decent pass in fairness!

That redshite was an absolute tool, he had Fowler on his back, my observation was "same build as Fowler as well" Walking onto the pitch he said "these lot are there for the taking boys", as we promptly beat them 2-0 and it really should've been more. They came bottom of our group

Yup, they actually weren't too bad!

We had 3 girls in our squad and they played for a decent amount of time. We were the only team with women in and we won our group

Still gutted we went out on pens! I'd been subbed off so couldn't take one

When I played out in Hawaii, there were girls on the teams out there. One ever-lasting memory, this girl goes in for a tackle with one of my teammates, and she body-checks him and knocks his ass on the floor. About 3 minutes later, she receives the ball, and he comes flying in with a waist high tackle and takes her out of the game (and he got away with it too, it was atrocious and should have been sent off).

She is sat, in some considerable pain on the sidelines when the final whistle goes, he goes over to apologize.....and comes away with a date with here. ~ 6 months later, they are married.
