6 + 2 Point Deductions

And that is why we need to contest the points deduction and point to recent behaviour.

Mate we are going around in circles. We shouldnt be having to appeal a 10 point deduction. As we didnt warrant a 10 point deduction.
FFP charges last year
PSG, inter milan. Juventus, besiktas. marseille, Roma, monaco, AC Milan.
Total number of points deduction for all of the above clubs who breached FFP.....zero. zilch nothing.

PL under scrutiny from Gov....
Everton. 10 points deducted.

Really disapointed you came on here yest claiming stop playing the victims. No victim playing going on. We've been shafted because they think doing Everton will have no comebacks.

Putin first invaded Ukraine/Crimea in 2014. 2 yrs before we'd ever heard of Usmanov. Russian sponsorship was a ropey prospect from then on. At the time of the latest Ukraine invasion, there was barely anything above ground at BMD. We carried on regardless, even despite: never being able to secure finance at any stage; losing the club and stadium sponsor; 50% increase in cost; all the subsequent interest rate increases and all of the P&S issues building against us.

Essentially, after driving the club erratically for years, employing scattergun economics throughout, building (and sometimes capitalising) more and more debt and attracting the attention of the governance/finance police, who were now in hot pursuit.....They saw the lights turn to red, but decided to accelerate! They have gambled with the club's whole future.

This isn't really about £19m. We had losses of £380m over three yrs. We'd already brushed several hundred million more under the carpet before that and mitigated comfortably the highest COVID loss claim of all premiership clubs to somehow get our losses down by £250m to £124m. We're now in the process of being sold to the first carpet baggers that we can, for a cost that will be far less than the cost of just the stadium build alone, with no idea where that final debt lands.
This is a separate argument and concerns, broadly, the governance of the club and how it led to the overspend which was punished.

The issue now is the punishment itself and how severe it is and what can be done about it.

And that should be the basis of our defence our recent spending and how we have moved to improve our situation ( Not Chelsea, nothing to do with us )

To be fair we did bring that up, stat somewhere that says over the last 5 years we are third from bottom of the nett spend league in the PL, I know no trophy. :) But the PL actually ruled against us on that the Commission ruled in our favour that point. Just shows how fair the PL were to our case. They needed an example.

Best not tell the Tory party that because they were still accepting Russian money after that invasion. Saudi are at war in Yemen and a member of their Royal family was involved in dismembering a journalist.

I must have forgotten the past 6 transfer windows we’ve had where we’ve done nothing but sell all our best players and bring in loans, players with no fees upfront, and free transfers resulting in us going from a top 10 team under Carlo Ancelotti with players like James Richarlison Digne Allan etc. to back to back relegation battles with Demarai Gray, Rondon, Townsend Young playing for us under Frank Lampard and now Sean Dyche All of this btw to comply with P&S regulations.

Lost prize money, lost corporate revenue, massive opportunity loss, lost players, reputational loss - all for no reason other than complying with some arbitrary regulations that don’t protect any clubs from anything. A bounce of the ball the other way in the last two seasons and we’d have been relegated, into administration and maybe even liquidation - how exactly would complying with P&S regulations have saved us in that scenario vis-à-vis Moshiri just buying us a striker in January and us staying in the league?

Remind me again how we’ve not been punished yet and deserve yet another deterrent?

And this is what we have to argue. If Portsmouth got deducted 9 points for administration, which in my eyes is worse as this effects employees and suppliers in the local region from getting paid.

Then the Premier League needs to get its rules for this type of breach into its charter instead of making it up on the fly.
They just copied and pasted stuff from the Football League...I'm not even sure that the Premier League clubs even looked at it, probably passed it through in the nod with the minutes...or nowadays just scrolled down the page and ticked the box

Perhaps time for a new legal team too?

If possible I would replace our entire legal team regardless as they haven't covered themselves in glory and appear to have "lost" most of the arguments in this case.

Go for one of the Big US law firms with offices in London e.g. Latham & Watkins as they operate from a culture/background of litigation/counter suing, and perhaps a different KC too.

About time we made the PL and/or their "Independent Panel" sweat a bit
We need...

Everyone else in the league benefits from Everton, Chelsea and City receiving harsh punishments, no matter where they are in the table. Those at the top get a shot at the league trophy and/or a better shot at CL. Those in the middle of the table can expect increased prize money and an improved shot at a European place. Those at the bottom get a boost to their hopes of staying up.

It's not hard to see how this approach would receive fourteen votes from other clubs.

Depends how many of them at any one time are sailing close to the wind financially.
We needed Hornblower
We had Captains Jack Sparrow and Pugwash

We have an interim board, an absentee owner and we're having to get a stadium built, having our team practically start the season again in late November AND put together an appeal to a new panel.

This is completely ludicrous and beyond any club our size to contend with.
Can 777 whatever people might think about them be able to help us this time as the takeover gets closer and also no set time for the case atm. Also the whole sueing culture from teams needs to stop the league must put a rule in to stop this is becoming a joke

Yes, one thing at a time and all that, but I'd say that the issue extends beyond the current punishment, in that the true legacy could last much longer. Especially if clubs can bring actions against us and/or if the club exceeds PSR again next year due to high interest payments on existing loans and the cost of completion of stadium.

I don't think calling people who are on there panel they have a lack of integrity will go down well.

As i said, its a gentlemans club and the people on the appeal panel will be associates of the original panel. As for the stories in the press they can say they don't control the media and what has been reported is just hearsay and not fact.

As for the regulator that will come into effect anyway, it was in the Kings Speech last month so this punishment is not going to stop it.
They might not like it, but the fact is that those whole situation has been dealt with in a unjust mannor and the end result reflects this. The Premier League is desperate to avoid external regulation so I'd do everything I could to prove they can't be trusted to operate without it, given how they've decided to throw us under the bus.
