What’s the thinking behind the confidence on this?

I think confidence is the wrong word. Its more the pretty much overwhelming reaction to the punishment from outside of Everton. And the horlicks of the verdict/dismissing mitigation that folk who know these things think is ridiculous.

If it makes it onto social media and, more importantly, mainstream media, it'll help get the point across. The consensus of pundits and fans alike is that it's unfair.

If we can build momentum, this could help any appeal in terms of reduction or suspension of the points deduction. We need to make the PL feel uncomfortable.

I dont know mate. Obvs. But we are not appealing our guilt, we admitted it, we are appealing the largest ever PL points deduction for a £20m overspend (kinda) over 3 years. In the absence of any PL framework for a punishment, unlike administration being 9 points for example, and the noise (that the PL hate) around the judgement, the dismissal of mitigation, and politics, we have a serious case. How legally that would be represented I have no idea.
