So... on the eve of the impending cup game, and with the doom and gloom surrounding our beloved team,
I thought I would lighten the mood by finally introducing myself. I've been a member here for ages, always chirping in with my two cents from the peanut gallery !
I guess it's to show you a bit of the wizard behind the curtain!
Ok... Firstly I am not scouse (yes lids, a WOOL... Oh the humanity!). I am actually a South African. But like most scousers, I am a 3rd generation toffee! My old man saw to that. I used to have He-man and Thunder Cat posters in my room, but sneaky pops would discreetly come into my room and cover them with posters of Neville Southall et al... I didn't stand a chance!
My family's story begins in 1929. The season after Dixie Dean was on fire. My grandad was in Liverpool doing business with some company... The full facts I'm a bit sketchy on. He had always been a football fan, and thought, while he was in the 'home of football' he'd catch a game. So he made enquiries. All I can say is thank the almighty that the Toffees where playing and not those inbreeds across the park, or else this would have been a different story!
Dean was on fire that day. I don't how much he netted, but it was enough to ensure that my Grandad was irreparably touched by the blues! The rest is history, and if you know your history !
So yeah... Been there in the good times and the bad. I'm too young to remember the eighties, but when my old man talks about it, the look in his eye...
FFS blues, stuff United tomorrow!
