the tournament is still in its early days but so far I havn't really seen a game that has had me on the edge of my seat. The Germany game was very one sided but showed clinical finishing that has been massively lacking so far. Both Argentina and Holland could have been touted as real contenders but didn't look great in the opening games. Italy, England both highly ranked in the FIFA seedings played poorly.

The big guns Brazil and Spain are yet to play but will hopefully deliver some great attacking moves, Ivory Coast and Portugal has the potential to be a great match. But as I sit here watching New zealand v Slovakia i'm feeling almost robbed. How did these countries make it so far?

There could be many factors contributing to this such as:

The ball that would be more suited to a sport requiring conversions, whats the matter with a proper size 5 black and white patch non swervey-bollox ball.
The officials are doing a decent job but are showing yellows so early and players arn't quick enough to learn that they will be sent off for doing the same thing twice.
High altitude, some players are breathing heavily just walking to the pitch (ref: Blanco, Mexico)
Defensive tactics with minimal risk.

Or is just me expecting to much?

Indeed, I looked forward to this competition so much, and have watched every kick of every game (and will continue to do so), but there has been a severe lack of quality shown in almost every game so far.

Up to this point (after 12 games) we've had 20 goals, an average of 1.67 goals per game. The record lowest average in the World Cup was 2.21, back in 1990. To put it another way, we're currently 6.5 goals behind equalling the lowest ever average, and only one game so far has had more than 2 goals.

It's not all about goals, and I'm perfectly happy to watch a 0-0 draw when two teams are playing well, but the lack of goals is indicative of an overall lack of quality (and the ball's role in this I think is crucial), not good defending.

This has been rather dull and boring so far. I have rode the hype for so long and all the lead up. But now the heavyweights need to show some flair which i think they will. We need more excitement. So far Germany and South Korea look like they are the only ones enjoying themselves.

I thought Argentina looked very good. The Nigerian goaltender just happened to have the game of his life.

That has nothing to do with Altitude, Blanco has just had to many Dos XX and Boritos.. Plus he is like 97 years old I think..

The quality has been awful, the majority of teams looked scared to attack in case they are caught out at the back.

no one wants to lose the first game, fact. as of today, should start to pick up I think.....Spain surely won't be poor to watch, and then everyones second game starts tonight, MUST WIN games effectively

Its that damn ball:D
