2023/24 Abdoulaye Doucoure

🤣 I’m sure nobody is happy sitting on the bench, but it’s called being professional and sends terrible message to young players and to do that when on 100k a week is scandalous. And doucoure has been great in terms of goals under dyche,
As he’s playing off DCL,
He also had some poor performances under dyche to.

And under Carlo, Rafael and Lampard playing as a midfielder, he was poor. Obviously Lampard didn’t want him in midfield and wanted someone else in the attacking midfield role. That’s his choice as a manager
Doucoure could clearly see Lampard was a gigantic cretin and called him out.

He's a true blue hero 💙.

It was clear from Doucoure getting straight back in under Dyche that he was fully fit and ready to go the whole time we were all waiting for Lampard to get the boot. He was a professional, keeping ready for his chance but he was a human and was frustrated to not get his chance whilst we were god awful. If I’m managing a team, I want every one of my subs ready and desperate to contribute.
Well so he should be. This is not me saying Lampard was correct, it’s the fact that Lampard wanted a different type of player in that behind the striker role. And doucoure was 4th choice to play central

Well all managers are different, dyche has his favourites like McNeil and Keane, picking Keane over Mina last season very nearly sent us down. Lampard wanted a better technical footballer in the number 10 role. And doucoure was 4th choice to play as one of the central midfielders

This guy is everything good about this club right now, on the pitch and in his attitude. I will swim across the ocean to sit on him and keep him in situ if Saudi tries to buy him.

No but he would definitely have played Mina over Keane and he wanted to play different style of football. Doucoure is still 4th choice in central midfield now
But, he doesn't play Michael Keane now on a regular basis.

He had just arrived at the club and it was reasonable to play players that he worked with previously. Tarkowski and McNeill fall into the same category.
He knew what to expect from those players, he had to learn about all the others and in time decided on the players and team he preferred.

Anyone trying to build a defence around Mina was asking for trouble as he could not stay fit for two consecutive games.

Make excuses for dyche as much as you want, he made some huge errors last season and get very lucky in the end. So why did he pick Godfrey and holgate at right back over Patterson. And Mina was fit from day one under dyche and was obviously training at an intense level. With Keane we’re letting in goals left, right and centre. We got battered 4-1 at home to Newcastle, fans had aleady stared to turn on dyche and he still picked Keane for the next game and Godfrey RB away at Leicester. Keane at fault for one goal and then give the pen away, had Pickford not saved that and it went to 3-1, we’re as good as down and dyche wound have been sacked.

Next game Brighton away, mina and Patterson in and we win 5-1 and go on to stay up.

Learning about your squad and then making needed changes is bad? 🤷

He still isn't playing Patterson as first choice and we have not done so badly this season (points deduction apart)
The problem with Mina is he was totally unreliable because of injury, we all know he was a good player but an injured player isn't much use to a manager.

I am not defending Michael Keane but you can make any argument you want by picking specific games. Nathan Patterson is still third choice when Young and Coleman are fit.

How long did Mina stay fit after Brighton or indeed after any game he played ?
The Brighton win was more because Dyche got his tactics spot on in that game against Brighton and they could not react.

I don't think anyone is silly enough to this that making any two changes to our existing playing squad is going to make a radical difference.

His remit last season was to keep us up. He did.

His remit this season (in my opinion) is to have us safe with a few game weeks to go and progress through the cups. He’s doing that too.

Edit: soz modz, assumed this was the Dyche thread. Up the angry scotch egg blues

Yes he kept us up, but by the skin of his teeth and he got extremely lucky. Even this season picking young every game early doors, even though he was getting booked every week, getting sent off, giving away goals and a pen v utd , getting Keane into the team when he can, picking McNeil when not fit, him and Harrison never get dropped, DCL can’t hit a barn door and also never gets dropped.

So what? We were dead and buried when he took over having 15 points from 20 games at the time. Were you expecting us to win every other game and march our way up the table? He got 60% of our points total in less than half the games. He improved us and kept us up.

We weren’t dead and buried, we were one win from safety, yes we managed to stay up again by the skin of our Teeth, that’s the reason he got the job because we were in the position we were. He did what he had to do, but let’s not make out he was a miracle worker.
