I've had some strange adverts coming at me recently when the forum has been telling me that the server is too busy. For example:

SingleMuslim.com
Something about dating over 65s
Some weird new-age religion with gods that that look somewhat like the blue aliens from Avatar

Some strange adverts for a football site.

You mean the ones in the footer at the very bottom?

They're from Google. Allegedly they use content to show adverts of interest. When theres no website due to server issues - theres no content to scan - hence bizarre odds.

I'd say the Google ones are always a bit odd though.

Just seen this one? I've just spoken to someone from there for work literally this morning? Do they know I'm using GOT? Has it all gone Big Brother in here? Should I worry!! Ha ha

They typically work on a cost per click basis, so GOT will earn money from each click on them. Either that or a cost per 1,000 times they're viewed.

If GOT makes enough to cover even 10% of the server costs via Google ads I'd be amazed

Anyone who complains about them is a bad fool though. For a football site this is as clean as it gets.

Really? I don't understand the intrabwebnet at all. But no, someone phoned me from there and then boom, an hour later I spot that advert on here? A very weird coincidence. I have been on their site weeks ago though

Damn these webcam ad's. No one saw my wang right?

I was searching for a camera, and everywhere after that including here, I was then followed by camerabox and jessops
