I work as a social worker for mentally ill people who are not hosted into hospital. I visit the people at home or at a local place to check work/home/medical treatment/medical specialist/retirement/family life etc. I am doing this for about 5 years now, before I worked in a prison for mentally ill and in a hospital etc.

The point is that I am kind of fed up now with work and I want to quit my job, the clients are not the problem, its more the surroundings (colleagues who are bastards, etc.) that make me feel sick. I have got no alternatives at the moment. What shall I do ?

what you've done so far is admirable work, and employers will recognize that, I wouldn't worry about it too much, just browse around till something catches your eye

Very good advice mate. Whatever you do, dont just give up your job without something to fall back on, but saying that, you are an Evertonian so clearly you are clever enough to know that anyway mate. (y)

Depends on:
- your circumstances. If you've only yourself to consider, you might be willing to take a bigger risk with a new career direction. If there are people relying on your earnings, you may wish to play it safe.

- what motivates or inspires you. Your work history suggests that you like to work with the disadvantaged or vulnerable. That's a very attractive trait to some industries but might be viewed as a drawback in others. Also sounds like the team around you is important - trust etc.

All of which suggests that certain industries are not for you. (Sales? Commercial Management etc) But others are. Teaching? Social services? Adult education? Youth work? Health Services?

But, whatever you do, get advice from a professional. I'm not an expert on your country's provision but I know that in Germany, job seekers can get lots of help, funded by the state or Federal government. I'd try that first

Many thanx for your constructive replies. I will do my job until I get the sack or quit on my own, besides I will focus on other free jobs. I hope I won't go berserk towards my colleagues.

BTW I PMPL when I read the reply about the R's.
