Alan Myers leaves Everton for 'personal reasons'.

I dont know if he's ill. Is he not ill? He's just fine and dandy is he. Ok Dave. Thanks for enlightening me with your knowledge of Alan Myers and his personal health record.

I dont claim to know anything about Myers other than what he's revealed himself. Alan Myers has not said he's left because he's ill or been ill. The club and helpful former 'colleagues' like Mr O'Keeffe have said he's ill/been ill and this is the reason he's left. Myers is fighting fit enough to be looking to start work again ASAP.

I dont think it's too much of a leap in the dark to put that together and come up with the conclusion the illness line is utter tosh and a fig leaf for covering over a parting of the ways that's none too friendly.

Here's another question: How come Alan, who everyone knows is very well liked within Everton Football Club (by all the Communications staff who worked under him anyway) has not had any tweets from his now former colleagues wishing him well, or expressing sadness at his departure? He frequently engaged in public dialogue with his colleagues, often very light hearted banter, when he was in the job.

You'd think at least one or two would. Yet there has been radio silence. No-one has even tweeted about him going at all, let alone reached out to Alan publicly.

Could it be that people are maybe erring on the side of caution, or maybe have even been ordered not to comment on the situation?

At the very least it reinforces that this isn't a departure due to illness, because if that was the case, people would be wishing him well.

That distancing of former associates from Myers doesn't surprise me at all mate. Too many of these clowns are on a nice little drink from the club. They'd throw anyone under a bus to avoid seeing that perk disappear.

My point Dave is that as you have said here, you know nothing about Alans personal health, his, or Evertons reasons for him leaving. Yet you still berate a man for towing the party line when you do not have the slightest idea over whether or not that is what he is doing. You are making assumptions yet giving a O'keefe murder for the assumption you have made.

Hope Alan has,nt forgotten to hand back the company everton biros otherwise suntan will have a fit.

He's probably on one of his Alpine mountain bike charidee rides and couldn't care less now...or ballsing up another sponsorship deal. He's busy, busy, busy that lad.

Well let's see if we can come to a compromise: O'Keeffe (who knows Myers well) is faithfully recounting the news report handed to him by Everton FC's officers. I dont know. Maybe Myers is in touch with O'Keeffe and said he understands he has to report it thus because he has a job to keep hold of. Not beyond the realms of possibility, tbh.

My underlying point though is unchanged: the official line makes no sense whatsoever given the facts to hand; and the local press repeating it makes their 'reporting' of it both nonsensical and craven.
