Waterfields (in and around Warrington) make some absolute boss pies and pasties - not seen anything specially for Christmas yet, but I'm sure they will do

...there's a few Waterstones that sell such things.
Have you sampled the Cottam's Hot Pot? Available around St. Helens...I never go in cos its about £1.60 for a pasty, I can trough the things so would end up costing me a fortune, PB every time me mate.
Pimbletts in St. Helens was the best bakery anyway, I really dont like any of the Wigan ones, Pooles & Galloways are really poor & for a town known for it's pie eating they are pretty crap, the pastry is like biscuit & the gravy requires a straw, when oi get a steak pie I don't expect to have to drink it's contents.
such things as Books ?
Big news today.
I found myself in a strange shop. It looked like Greggs and Sayers, but it was called "Cooplands".
I strolled up to their counter. There. Central. "Christmas Pasty".
I sneered. I looked for something more familiar. No sausage and bean pasty. Not even a baked bean pasty. The one remaining meat and potato pasty didn't look great. I pondered for a minute, before I could detect annoyance behind me for holding up the queue.
Curiosity got the better of me. "What's in a Christmas Pasty?"
Well, my vocabulary doesn't possess the superlatives to describe just how outrageous this pasty was.
I don't say this lightly.
It destroyed anything Greggs or Sayers have ever produced.
Find this mythical shop called 'Cooplands'. Purchase the 'Christmas Pasty'.
Thank me later.

Ecellent work with the link!Their steak pies were superb...in fact all their stuff was great. Sad day when they went bust especially for their loyal workforce. I was in Whiston Hossie for a week a couple of years ago and we were talking about their pies (probably wistfully when they brought "the grub" around) Someone said that some of their bakers were still doing their pies in a few outlets but didn't know where and no detail online. Just looked up now out of curiosity and found this http://www.pimmiespies.co.uk/menu/. The shops/cafes doing them are probably round St Helens centre maybe.
Ecellent work with the link!
Poor effort with the spelling!Ecellent work with the link!
