André Gomes assumes his return to Barcelona
André Gomes, who has finally debuted at Everton, is aware that his future is already decided
This is the same thing that went on with Lukaku for about the entire year he was here and everyone knows what happened. This seems very similar as the current boss at Barca has no interest in Gomes like Mourinho had no interest in Rom. I believe Gomes has played his last game for Barcelona.

...I notice in commentary on Sunday, Gary Neville said “Everton have done well to get him”. He might have burned his bridges with Barcelona but he could well be in demand from other clubs next summer.
Of course, that's why I specified that we'll definitely get him if he's interested. It was more a comment regarding the fact that we won't have to pry him too hard from Barcelona's hands.

That said, you're absolutely correct because if we finish 10th or something and a EL or lower CL club come in for him then we'll have a serious issue on our hands.

Yes but if he’s happy here and it’s wirking for him he will want to stay here and could easily refuse all other offers
After his breakdown I don’t think Barca would want to be seen to be treating him unfairly
If it works out I can see him on a permanent in the summer for a fee of 30 m or less

The only question is that of his next permanent club, Barca have no need or want for him.

If we want to do a deal, we are clearly in the driving seat.

I'd say this is 80% likely, but as he says himself let's see how things are at the end of the season.

I want to see him grow and prosper and really show his quality here, make it essential that we sign him.

He seems a great lad too in every respect, let's look to enjoy what he can bring to us in the coming months.

I am never sure why I understand the worry people tend to have about loan players. Most loan players tend to stay with their given teams if they do well. It's like if you start a secondment at work, it goes really well you will do everything you can to stay there.

Moving clubs, to a new city, new team, new dressing room, new manager etc is always a risk. It looks like Gomes may have taken a couple of risks and has really struggled.

If he continues to improve under Silva, a manager he clearly likes, gets back into the Portugal squad I can't see him wanting to go elsewhere. We know we can pay decent money.

There is an awful lot of knee jerking amongst fans. 3 weeks ago he was a terrible signing, would never play for us, injury prone, crock, ready to be sent back to Barca. 3 weeks later and we are going to struggle to keep hold of him. The truth lies in the middle.

Our focus now has to be to get him back to his best, get him enjoying his football and playing well. If he does that the rest will be easy.

I had a look on YouTube last night looking to see if the interview he did with SSN was on there.

I came across a load of vids from his Barca days.
‘Fan’ videos showing in detail why he isn’t good enough for them, interviews with other players asking for people to get off his back and give him a chance and footage of the Barca fans booing him on the pitch.

No wonder his confidence was shot to pieces!

That’s the thing with Barca, if you make it there, they’ll idolise you, but it can become a graveyard for players who don’t hit the ground running.

Look at Alcacer at Dortmund.
Had a nightmare during his time at Barca but is tearing it up now.

We missed an opportunity there.
