I know that you guys (the English) have no lack of talent and quality when it comes to football analysis and play by play on television as well as in-studio work.

However, on this side of the pond, it's a different story. We have very few quality broadcasters (my favorite happens to be Glenn Davis) but it's getting better.

That's why I agreed with Grant Wahl's article above about what a smart move it was to hire Andy Gray to work for ESPN during the Euro telecasts.

Grant Wahl by the way does very good work in regards to writing about football for Sports Illustrated.

I thought Andy has done a great job so far. I hope we see more of him in the future this side of the pond. ABC slash ESPN slash ESPN classic and so on will rotate him and I'm hoping we can get some more English/Scotch perspective on our national team during the qualifiers leading up to the next world cup.

I forgot to add that I really like Andy Gray and think he's done a very good job over the past few weeks. (y)

I never get all this hatred towards Andy Gray. Yes he got a bit excited when Gerrard scored a belter, but who cares?! He also seemed dead chuffed when we stuffed the [Poor language removed] 3-0 and he is always postivie about us as a club when he's on our games. Him and Martin Tyler are the best commentary team imo

It's not about his gloryfying of a goal, it runs much deeper than that, his overall perception of the club and the time he spent here, not to mention the things that he won are treated with vile disrespect by the media whore.

he used the club and the the fact that the fans adored him and were touting for him to be boss, he let us all believe that someone who was part of our most successfull side ever was to return and lead us to glory, and all for what....to get a payrise from sky.
it's the sky revolution that has caused inflated salaries, causing inflated ego's, inflated transfer fee's and any other inflatedness you care to mention, it is this that has caused the admission prices to rocket and for us to have a generation of footballers that have little loyalty and amounts of money that are obscene.
gray was part of all of that from the start and canoodled with cantona, humped with henry, groped gerrard and felched fergy. he doesnt speak like a former player and never gives us credit, he will be exposed as he was starting to be last season when we are doing well and he starts to say that he's been expecting us to make it for the last 5 years. i loved him as a player and he was part of our history but on telly...........i'd rather listen to redknapp or gavin peacock.
get espn to offer him a fulltime contract then we can wave byebye and he can move in with rod stewart.
