Another rant about our CJS

2 years ago, 18 year old Liam Culshaw - a big Evertonian, was stabbed 8 times to death for confronting scum outside his house. Am sure the majority of you have heard the story.

Anyway, i understood the scum who did it got life - but it turns out theres a good chance he'll be out after just 10 years.

I just dont get why they call it life. It isn't so why the hell do they call it so? If its for the rest of their life say so, if not then say how long the term is for. Saying life just confuses it and pisses people off.

Does it mean the potential for life but they might let them out sooner rather then a gauranteed set term, say 10 years no more no less?

Life should mean life. Im sorry, some of the sentences that scum like this receive do NOT match the crime. The law is far from fair.
