It’d be mad for us as fans to start having a go at him. We need 2 players in each position, he probably costs a fraction in wages compared with other first teamers and whilst he’s not a cf or his end product’s not there at the moment, he is a nuisance and an outlet. With 5 subs if we had 4 wingers he would be even more effective eithet coming on 2nd half or alternatively if he was told to run himself into the ground as he’d be off second half. He is not the problem.

His effort is far better than the others in the front 3 at least, although his quality has not been there. Move him wide, get a centre forward, sell Gray and then we can move forward with some sort of threat.

But if he genuinely sees himself as a centre forward going forward, then I'm not sure what he is basing it on. He doesn't have any presence, he doesn't have good movement in the box, and he doesn't gamble by making runs. It would be my number 1 criticism of him over the last 2 seasons - stop watching the play and get into the box and you will start to get rewarded.

Selling him is a stupid idea. He can do better but he needs help from the recruitment team so he doesn't have to try and carry a powder puff front line that would struggle in the championship.

Howe spent big money (at the time) on Jordan Ibe who had no end product. He's iffy in the transfer market.

Gordon just needs to toughen up and cut out the theatrics but like Richy it seems to be the way he is, maybe Richy was just a bad influence in that sense but helped his game in others . The raw ability is there and he will run all day.
True, he did waste a lot of money for Bournemouth. Just think it would be crazy to sell Gordon.

Definitely needs to be stronger and stay on his feet as much as he can, already got a reputation with the refs and he gets nothing from even when he is being fouled. All his own doing.

He'd absolutely thrive in the right team and under the right manager. I hope he does still come to Newcastle, there is without doubt a great player in him, just needs some time in the right environment. It's amazing how many people on here are running him down.

Standard really, build up a local youngster to unrealistic expectations and tear them down when they don't automatically perform to them.

Fortunately Frank seems to really like him and can't see him going anywhere. He can thrive here, like the whole team we need a striker to be effective.

We need to learn from experience with Davies, Barkley etc, let’s get behind the lad.

A banner for the Forest game would be a good idea

Nuisances don’t win football matches though. No end product at all from the lad, can cut him a little slack given he has been thrown in the deep end by the club trying to convince us he is our Gordon. But, if he wasn’t a local lad would people defend him at all? A lot of people seem to have had enough of Gray since last September, who offers very similar/little end product, but Gordon’s local so he gets away with being a nuisance.

If you look at their other ”insights” on players it’s not amazing at all.

Selling him could be a huge mistake, part of the problem is who he has been getting to play with in a poor team. Also it will be yet another player we have to replace.

Sell for 40m without a doubt
Hmm, it does feel like we could achieve a lot in the transfer market with 40 mil of pure profit on the books. With structured deals etc you could maybe stretch that to 60m of signings, and two quality 30m signings could absolutely transform us.

It would still be a shame though, he’ll go on to be very good I’m sure and it’s not as simple as just making the transfers, you have to consider squad cohesion, etc. He’s got bags of potential but if a big offer did come in we’d have to consider if potential is a luxury we can afford when the quality is so lacking.
