After yesterday's dreadful fire at Notre-Dame, the first thing that came to my mind was the date. April 15th. This is the latest in a number of high profile tragedies/events that have taken place on that date over the years.

1869. Abraham Lincoln, probably the most famous of all American presidents, was assassinated.

1912. Titanic, probably the most iconic of all ships, sank with the loss of over 1500 souls

1986. US bomb Libya following in retaliation of a German night club bombing, which led to the loss of 40 lives.

1989. Hillsborough football tragedy that resulted in 96 deaths. Plus the start of the Tiananmen square protests in china that led to so many deaths too.

2013. Bomb explodes at the Boston marathon. 3 killed and hundreds injured.

2019. Notre Dame fire. One of the most iconic religious buildings in the world destroyed.

I'm sure that April 15th will have seen other tragedies as part of larger conflicts eg WWI/II, that have been masked by the general murkiness of war, but does anybody else feel this is an unusual large number of significant events on 1 date? Coincidence?

Are there any other dates that have similar tragedies? I know Friday 13th is a widely accepted as unlucky.
