Right, I'm going to be starting uni at the weekend, and for people with dietry requirements like myself, the uni let us keep a mini fridge in our rooms to keep some extra food in. All you have to do is get a letter off the doctor to prove that you actually do have an allergy. Easy.

So I went along to see the doc last week and he said a letter would be ready in 3 days (why on earth does it take 3 days to write a letter?! But anyway that's a whole different matter..). He also said "there might be a small charge". Fair enough I thought.

This morning I went up, armed with a tenner that my Mum had given me to pay this "small charge", we were assuming a couple of quid at most. I get to the reception, and she says "OK, here's the letter, that's £15 please." :blink: £15?! To write a letter! You can't be serious?!

Now, maybe for a doctor earning [Poor language removed] loads, £15 might be a small amount of money, but as far as I'm concerned that is a bloody lot of money!! £15 to prove I'm not lying about an allergy I wish I didn't have! Ridiculous.

The uni my sister went to let them all have fridges in their rooms along with microwaves etc.

Aye, many do, but apparently they're quite strict where I'm going. By the sounds of it, the cleaners don't do all that much cleaning and are essentially there to make sure you aren't keeping anything you shouldn't have in your room

Fair enough that, it's just the paying £15 for a letter that I take offence with!

Should be good although the trains to Liverpool look a nightmare so won't be able to get to as many Everton games as I was hoping for. But ah well!

The £15 charge is absurd considering you're a student and more so since your average GP earns just a tad over 100k a year. But then I'm assuming that the money goes back to the doctor rather than system.

Our Doctor dose not charge low earners or anyone in the health industry ie nurses which I Think is fair

Think it's just fridges they don't like apparently, oh, and other people sleeping in your room of course Fridges must just use up too much of that new fangled electricity stuff!
