Tim Vickery just did an article for the BBC on Tigre (Denis' club, though he's not included in the squad this season because of the loan deal).

They're second in the league with a game to go, and if they win, they're guarenteed at least a playoff game for the title. However, because relegation is calculated by the average results of the last six seasons, they're also just out of the relegation zone. If Rafaela win, then no matter what Tigre do, they'll have to play a relegation play off to stay in the division.

Meaning that they could win the league and get relegated at the same time.

Weirdest. League. Ever.

Haha, I love how bizarre some other leagues can appear to be compared to ours. I seem to recall you may have mentioned something like this last season, or someone else on here did. Were River Plate relegated, or something odd happened to them?

How odd anyway

Yep, after finishing 5th.

It's a great league, really. Because there are no meaningless games. The very last game of the season and midtable teams still need to pick up points that will help them out if they're in a relegation fight two years later.

That's a very good point

So would they have to play 2 games? A play off for the title and a play off for relegation? Imagine if they won the title and lost the relegation one. What the hell would they do?
