Confirmed Signing Armando Broja

An update on our Broja interest: apparently, it's us, Newcastle and West Ham after his signature.
If that's the case I don't know why he'd choose us. Starts for West Ham and Newcastle, not guaranteed with us and we're also far worse to top it off. Feels like we're gonna spend the summer going after players who'll have us down as their third or fourth choice if other clubs aren't interested instead of going for players that want to play for us straight away.

That's been our problem ever since Moshiri came in.

Ambitious signings, by their nature, are right at the fringes of what we can actually get over the line. The problem is that our ambitions have dropped, so we're struggling to land players that our status a few years ago would've made significantly easier.

I don't think the strategy is right at all, but I suppose the proof will be in the pudding.

It's going to be a tough summer.

I just don't know how this club hasn't really learned anything from the "good" signings we've made. Look at Gana for example, signed for not much from a lower division team, was delighted to play for us and was sold for a profit of about 5x what we bought him for. What is the idea of looking at these big name or big hype players, like we're supposedly after Gallagher and Broja but why? Neither are incredibly important to sign for us at the minute, both are not much but potential at the minute, both have better options than us and finally both would cost money that we can't afford to throw around on them when the rest of the squad is so poor. I just really don't get it.

We sold Richy for £60m, we could quite easily reinvest that in 4 or 5 decent players that would improve the squad and probably start for us at the moment but instead we're looking to spend that sort of money one 1 or 2 unneeded players instead, it's madness. I wouldn't mind us being broke in regards to transfer and only be able to spend a certain amount on perhaps a lesser quality of player to fill the holes in the squad, what absolutely winds me up is seeing the constant links to these £30m+ 20 year olds that are nothing but hype at the minute, fair enough in 5 years they might be worth a lot but we have problems now, never mind 5 years. Also it's not like they're guaranteed to fulfil that potential either, we've seen more young players fail here than most.

Wait. What?

Gueye was signed from Aston Villa after they got relegated. Cheap because he had a relegation clause in his contract.

Before he joined Villa he played 5-6 seasons in France for a strong Lille team and was rated highly.

How will we know if we never play him?

Honestly not seeing much between him and Broja other than one has been given a chance in the top flight and the other has not. Certainly not 30m worth of difference.
I have watched him alot in our youth sides & would love to say he will be a first team regular but I can't . Hope I'm wrong though

Exactly.

All of our young players, every last one is written off as not good enough.

We need a bigger squad next season, there a five substitutes allowed. I would rather have Simms on the bench than some of the squad players we had last season. He is better value than Tosun, El Ghazi or King.

He needs some game time to see if he can show anything. If he isn’t good enough then sell. But his fee will be higher just for getting some PL time.
