Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
This is going to run an run all summer long. Just a huge pain in the arse.

It's just been on 'radio city 96.7' that Everton have issued a hand off warning to arsenal after they look to bid around £10m for our little gem.

This is because flamini is definetly going an fabragas could also be on his way, as real make their intentions known.

This could be a Tw*t of a summer.........:(

I think you're right. But it won't happen.

If thats true and he does'nt want to be here. I'd let him go straight away, get as much money as possible as soon as possible an ged rid.

Saying that....

He's always said he's settled here an loves the place. I think a lot could depend if his mate alonso go's, could be a big factor.

Just think......if Carrick was worth £18m.

FFS Arteta must be £20m+ an thats not taking the piss!!

To be honest, Carrick wasn't really worth £18m, though. It's about what clubs are willing to pay for a player they may or may not be desperate to sign. In this sense, Arteta is worth as much or as little as his highest bidder will go.

I personally feel that if we could get £12m, and it was apparent that he wanted to move, then that would be pretty decent business.

Moyes is still building a team, and on limited resources. A large sum injected into his transfer funds would no doubt help improve the overall shape of the squad.

In saying that, I wouldn't want to get rid of Arteta. It would only be if the player himself wanted the move that I would argue for selling at the price mentioned above.

I totaly understand what your saying. But i think 12m is understating his undoubted quality in england. Remember They wont be taking a chance on a player untried in the prem. i'd say 15m an not a penny less!!

Anyway he's going no were.

I dont see that at all, he just looks frustrated to me about his form and the pain from his injury

In the words of Graham Taylor - "Do I not like this?!"

Moyes has got to battle hard to keep hold of him because people are gonna be sniffing. We should NOT sell him IMO,not even if it was for 20mill.

We've built a team that can improve upon and he's integral to it. If we sold star players for big money all the time we'd keep stalling at the first hurdle. Yes, we can bring players in to replace but who knows if they'd work?

No sale. This is gonna be Moyes biggest task in the summer IMO.

We could live without him!

He has quality theres no denying that. But to be honest he can score superb goals against the likes of Derby and lower Prem clubs. But in the big games I think he tends hide. Maybe a reason he can't get in the National side.

We would not get anywhere near Carricks 18 million. Carricks price was high because he's English and Man U panic bought at the time and were trying to replace Keane.

We should get a good price for him though, which if we got to spend it on players should enable us to buy 2 or 3 players to bolster the squad size.

One thing that puzzles me is the fact that when Arteta is injured (constantly) he always goes to Spain. Moyes states he has had niggling stomach injury since before Christmas which does not require surgery. Now I'm no medical professional, but if it's gone on that long it must surely require surgery. It's a known fact the best specialists are in this country and America. I have a feeling he is homesick and if he went it would be to team in his native Spain.

You think you could be right. I would rather loose him than Cahill. Not sure how much his dip in form can be attributed to his stomach injury or whether just as disinterest and the fact that a not-playing Alsonso continues to be selected for Spain while Arteta constantly playing and when playing well is not even near the squad.

Reason why he did get surgery is down to him being a key player and there was a chance he could play without surgery. Moyes took the chance and it worked against Florentina where he bossed the game, but it didnt pan out afterwards.

It not really Arteta's choice where he goes for treatment but the physio, and the specialist he saw he supposed to be the best in the world for that injury.

I dont believe he hides in big games,he gets cancelled out because defenders/midfielders target him and we dont/didnt have enough quality around him - cut him and cut out the creative flow. A player like Ronaldo has been accused of this too, not stepping up and hiding in big games especially in Europe.

As for Alonso being picked, its just down to experience. Its like England recalling Heskey, James, Crouch etc most of them dont play for their 1st teams or our injured all the time but still get picked based on previous international experience.

It would be a step back if we sold Arteta and spend the budget trying to find a replacement unsure whether he'd work. The best teams build on what they've got until they need to change. We have enough in the kitty to attract quality players to the club as well as having Arteta - which is a better future than a team without him
