My mate, who is from Texas, said that Varsity Blues was exactly how his town was like. Apparently they captured it perfectly. Where HS football is everything and the parents have Al Bundy like traits, ie living on their past laurels as star HS football players! Probably worth a watch if only to see how the isolated TX towns are like!

Probably not too far off the truth. HS Football is big time in TX and yes, especially in the smaller towns.
