Mikel Arteta's constant influential performences have attracted interest from his homeland, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
According to the newspaper, Atletico Madrid director Miguel Angel Gil Marin met Mikel Arteta after Saturday's Merseyside derby to discuss the possibility of Arteta moving to Vicente Calderon at the end of the season.
Its not the first time the Arteta has been linked with Atletico, during his time at Rangers the Spanish club was reported to be interested, however Arteta has recently reiterated his desire to remain with Everton and despite being under contract until 2009, the 24-year-old has stated he would be prepared to discuss an extension to his deal in the summer.
