Sorry lads, just had to get my 13 yr old lab put down today, back end away and incontenent in all ways. It's our Bichon who grew up with him I feel sorry for.

Sorry for posting bad news but had to get it off my chest

Shitty news, Jeff. I'm really sorry for you. Labs are cracking dogs and the fact that yours reached 13 shows the dog was really well cared for. Try and keep the spirits up and remember him/her at their best (running around, half killing that cat, nicking food off your plate and all that stuff that brings a smile and a laugh (after the event))

All the best mate (y)

Devastating when it happens. Our Roxy died the other month, had her for 14 years, (with being 20, cant remember life before her) Came on completely out the Blue, poor thing. Was more gutted than when my Nan died, that maybe wrong on some level but I'm serious.

I'm sorry to hear your sad news - we had a lovely rescue lab (around 10 years old when we got him) - had 3 lovely years with him.

Here's my Redshite hating girl - to cheer you up

Sorry to hear your news mate, after our last one passed away I swore no more ,its like losing a member of the family it took ages before their didnt seem a great big gap by the fire where our Sabre loved to laze when he got old:(

Sorry to read your bad news Jeff, you must be gutted, i've got a black lab, she's getting on in years too (12) and i'm beginning to see the tell tale signs that her best years are behind her.Dreading having to do the inevitable, but i won't see her suffer.

Remember the good times and the quality of life that you gave her.

Anything happened to my dog mate it'd break my heart. Thats sad news and I'm sorry to hear it.
Tried to put a pic of him here but dont know how to take one out of my photos cos am crap on the pc.

thanks to all who contributed

As we have no children our dogs are our lives, we even call them the boys. If you have no kids then losing one of the boys is, psychologically, the same as losing a child. Those with kids won't understand, but those with pets and no kids know where I'm comming from. We still have five others to take the pain away but as this is the third boyzie which has passed away on us it doesn't get any easier.

Many thanks for your comments lads, I wasn't sure how such a post would go down on an Everton site but the contributions have brought a moistness to my eyes. Many thanks lads, you are one hell of a bunch.

I grew up with three cats but one of 'em was my absolute favorite. Had him since my grade school days and we had to put him to sleep a few years after I graduated from college.

Cried like a baby about it.

Sad to hear Jeff. Hang in there.
