Is our current crop of ball returners the most lack lustre group we’ve ever had?
If this is our academy kids, there really is no hope?
Surely they should be told to get the ball back to a player, or are they encouraged to sit on their backsides in their free training gear?

I belive that they're told not to and the players should be using the ball off the cone. Stops accusations of Ball boys/girls slowing the game down.

If we are drawing / not losing, the instruction to slow down recycling the ball will be coming from Dyche. 1 point per game is his high water mark, no more.

This is a good point. It’s a game a fine margins. Better return of balls could change drab draws into stunning victories. I’m with you all the way on this issue

You want to see urgency and quick ball movement on the sidelines, but not on the pitch? Interesting idea.

You want to see urgency and quick ball movement on the sidelines, but not on the pitch? Interesting idea.

My hopes of seeing any urgency on the pitch are diminishing.
It just grates that we effectively pander to a team we knew were going to sit in deep and try to slow the game down at every chance.

One of the ball boys threw the ball at a player and the ball hit the slope on the side and bounced back down to him. The player just went to the cone and got the ball himself.

All about the sodding cones now. Another example of an idea thought up by someone with nothing better to do and the game being anaesthetised so as not to upset players, managers or ungrateful children. I was ball boy against United a billion years ago and was shocked and surprised to have the only player to say “thanks mate” when I lobbed him the ball was Paul Ince, who immediately started unleashing a barrage of vile obscenities at a teammate. Proper player and made my day. Ball boys/girls should be scared by the responsibility. If you want to walk on the hallowed turf pretending to repair divots, do the job properly.
