Everton have a very good base on which to build a great squad. I don't think they should more than £5m on Nugent because however good he is that is too much on a player with no guarantee of top flight credentials.

Tim Howard has found his level, Yobo and Lescott are beasts. Both excellent defenders. Osman, Cahill, Mcfadden, Fernandes- all very talented but Arteta, damn you owe La Masia one the guy is awesome. I don't really rate Johnson he can surpirse but is only really good at running up his own arse and falling over. Vaughan I like and I hope he can really develop and Anichebe looks good too.

With the top 4 and Spurs, Villa and Newcastle you will have to imporve to emulate this years finish.

And we all love Duncan Ferguson

one of the old man's heroes.

Nice to see the quality of Arteta is noticed in Spain.

I'm not all that surprised. If Vaughan continues to progress as he is then I think he'll be a better player than AJ.

need to see vaughan continually play hard and run hard every week before i can make a fair comparrison to AJ. so far he looks very good, the skill he showed to get a good shot in with the over-head kick at chelsea was brilliant as the ball was behind him so actually getting power onto it was a task in itself.

AJ - First Choice striker, guaranteed to start when fit.
Beattie - Hasnt worked out, probably on his way.
Vaughan - Looks like a great foil for AJ, has been hitting the net reguarly.
Anichebe - Potential, back up for Vaughan at present.
McFadden - Supersub. Well something like that.
Cahill - When needed can play in the hole.

So if we spend money it will have to be someone of a higher quality than Vaughan. Lets put it another way, if Vaughan played for say Wigan and we wanted to sign him based on what youve seen second half of the season.

How much do you think he would cost? Would you view it as a good signing as a partner for Andy Johnson?

In my opinion (usually wrong) we have the striker we are looking for on the books. If we could get Nugent for around four million I would do it like. European campaign and all that.

If beattie goes i think we need a more expeierenced striker than both Vic & Vaghan. We really shoulnt expect much from them they will both hit an inconssistent patch and bad form, its all part of their learning process. I beleive they are two season away from starting week n week out for a whole season.

I think we expect too much from the two youg lads, they are very talented but we need to be paitent with them.

Another striker with Jimmy Mac IMO will offer them and the team the support they need to develop thier potential naturally.
